The Poinsettia & Craft Festival - Part 1

Every year, our garden center has a large poinsettia and craft festival. There are a lot of crafters who set up their booths, and of course plenty of poinsettias. Today is part one, the poinsettias. My next post will show you the crafts and what I bought.

“Among evergreens and snow, poinsettias shine as the garden’s holiday lanterns.”

Wow, look at all those poinsettias. The blue are pretty but I like the good old fashioned red ones the best. This is an event that I would definitely enjoy going to

I love the poinsettias. One year (a good while back) I received a poinsettia during the Christmas season, from a friend. I kept it in the house all winter and in the spring, I planted it outside...that thing grew so tall...and then winter came again. I should have dug it up and re-potted it. So much beauty in them.

There are so many poinsettia varieties and they're fun to see. I think the reds are still my favorite.
I remember when I was younger my parents went to Hawaii and came back with photos of the poinsettias growing wild. What a beautiful sight it was.

Blue poinsettia? Wow, never seen one. Very pretty although I am partial to red. I kept a poinsettia plant as an inside plant for several years. Sometime in early fall you place it in darkness for it to bloom. It works! I accidentally neglected it after my first son was born. They make a nice house plant except if you have little ones or cats who like to chew.

Pretty pictures, Ginny

I never knew that blue poinsettias existed, Ginny. Wow! That's quite the display of festive plants for Christmas.

I didn't know there were that many colors - they must have been bred that way don't you think? I love the aqua one.

Wow, that blue poinsettia is beautiful! I've never seen one quite like that before. The second picture of the poinsettias looks like it's the shape of a Christmas tree. Looking forward to seeing what you bought at the craft festival. : )

Ginny, I would love to be able to change my blog header but I honestly don't know how! I mean, how to make sure the size fits. You seem to be such a pro at this! The header I have now was kindly made for me by a good friend of mine, she put the name of my blog on my own photo that I sent her, sized it appropriately and emailed it back to me!
LOL!
I have an image I would like to use but am afraid to, even though I can actually put my blog name on it via a free online image editor, but how to get the correct size makes me a bit uncomfortable, so I don't change my header.
Thank you for sharing your talent.

A festive and well-loved annual ritual, with today’s focus on the poinsettias setting the seasonal mood nicely and building anticipation for the crafts

Beautiful display.
Some colors I have never seen, like the blue (which is probably artificially produced?) and the bronze.
