For the last few years, I have been posting The Appalachian Angels at Christmas time. They are in front of The Appalachian Christian School.
Each angel represents a student who has passed away, with their family's name on it. The angels span at least two blocks. So I am thinking these represent the students all of the Appalachian Schools, not just this one school.
This one has a tiny wreath atop it's head.
“And there were
shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at
night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the
Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to
them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy
for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born
to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2

Ginny, I love this Scripture verse. Beautiful photos and great description of this event.
Nice idea however those oversized figures are an eyesore...less is more.
It is a very heartwarming and very special thing they do. These angels bring comfort to those who still mourn their children, as will the Scripture you chose from the Gospel of Luke.
