The Cow Who Could Read

Did you know that today (March 2nd) is "Read Across America Day"? And the Big Cow knows it! He wants everyone else to learn to read.

The first “Read Across America Day” was held on March 2nd, 1998. It was set to coincide with the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

In 1954, Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel)  wrote The Cat in the Hat using the 236 words that were deemed important for first-graders to learn. He had just found out that children weren’t reading much because they found most children’s books boring.

“Reading is the moment the alphabet stops marching and starts dancing.”

Children are different now than when I was learning to read, easily bored I think. The Cow is looking good and I have been reading since I was 5 and still do every day

Love the cow and his display. I was in Walmart the other day and they had a big display of Dr. Seuss books. Now I know why.

Very cute! Dr Seuss and I share one thing in common so I always think of him at least once a year! 🤔

Oh my gosh, the cow all decked out with Dr. Seuss! I just love his quirky whimsical quotes. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are so delightful. And the big cow even has the Dr. Seuss hat going on hehehe.

Happy March Ginny!
