Unruly Teenagers

Well, what do we have here? A cute little duckling!

Wait a minute, make that twins!

Hold on...triplets!!!

No, wait, it is quads...no sextuplets...I don't even know the word for it!!

And of course mom, following their every move. A very good mom, if a bit tired! So now the Mallard family is intact!! These chicks are about half grown so that would make them teenagers. I hear that dad has been seen running... swimming around with another girl.Such is life in the Mallard family!

“…don’t wander off from your mother’s teachings. Wrap yourself in them from head to foot; wear them like a scarf around your neck.”

Just Peachy

Remember this picture on my post about the peach orchard? This is when it was blooming.
Well, now the blooms are gone and the trees are full of peaches!!

After enjoying the nearby lake, we headed out to the peach field!

Inside the shop there is a lot of fun things! All the big doors stay open and they run this big fan. Parents wheel their little ones in wagons out to the field and fill the wagon with peaches.

They also sell homemade peach ice-cream, peach donuts, and homemade fudges of all flavors. You can sit in this colorful area to eat and slurp!
I hope all of you are nearby a peach orchard, it is great fun!

“But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity.”

Super Duper Moon

Last night was the super moon! This just means that the moon is the closest to the earth that it can be, so it appears really large. Next month will be a super moon, too! But it was very cloudy, and the moon was behind clouds until it had risen quite a way. So I could not get it at it's biggest. But here are some of my pictures as it just came out of the clouds.

·        “He makes the moon wax and wane, putting it through its phases. He draws the horizon out over the ocean, sets a boundary between light and darkness. Thunder crashes and rumbles in the skies. Listen! It’s God raising his voice!”

Pulling The Wool Over Our Eyes

If I asked you to guess what these are, what would you say? Would you say they are birdhouses? Well, they ARE! They are wool birdhouses. I found a rack of them in a store and was rather dumbfounded. Apparently they are all the rage now. They are made of sheep's wool, so they are waterproof. And the birds can pull out little fibers to add to their nest. They last forever with care. And people are also putting them INSIDE their houses as decorations! Would you buy one? Which is your favorite?

“Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better.”

Going To the Dogs

Last night,  several Animal Shelters got together and made a big fun night by bringing their adoptable dogs into the shopping center parking lot. They had lots of literature about adopting and many people who answered questions. See the sweet Sheltie in the first two pictures? She was not up for adoption! She was there with her owner to help give out applications and flyers. She is 13 years old! The dogs were overjoyed to be outside! They walked around laughing with their tails constantly wagging. They befriended anyone who came up to them, and they got lots of attention. As we left, we passed a shelter lay and I asked her how many got adopted. Her answer was NONE. It was wet and damp and getting dark as they put the dogs in the trucks to go back to the shelters, my heart almost broke.

“Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.”

We All Scream

I scream, you scream.
We all scream for ice-cream

Last Saturday, we came upon the ice-cream truck; it had broken down at the park entrance. The driver went under it to try and find the trouble. As you can see from the hole in the back, the truck is kind of old and beat up.

Of course the tow truck had to be called, which had to measure the ice-cream truck to see if it would fit under bridges.

A boy came by riding his bike, and you can see how horrified he was to find the truck broken down...then again, his look of shock just MAY have been when he spotted me with my camera! Did your neighborhood have an ice-cream truck growing up? Did you listen for the bell? How often did it come? I loved it so much that one night we were making homemade ice-cream and turning the crank when I heard the bell. I begged for change and ran outside as fast as I could...Yes, I screamed for ice-cream.

Transparent

A few days ago, I was taking pictures of the sunset. There were clouds in front of it, but they were thin and I could see the sun right through them! It was a transparent sunset.

“The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.”

Twinkling Lights & Haunted Nights

Here are a few of the non-scary Halloween lights around our neighborhood. So many ghosts peeking out of the window at us. This house has a ...
