Happy Birthday To ME!

My birthday was Monday, and Wednesday we got together with the family for a celebration. After eating out, we came back to our son's house. First, Anne Marie brought me the cake that she had picked out herself. It was dark chocolate mousse and fabulous.

I think Anne looks better with long hair, but her mom disagrees. Maybe because it makes her look older?

Here we are with our other two sweet granddaughters, Jazlyn and Jazarah. They had a ball on my lap looking through my camera. Sorry, still not allowed to show their faces on line.

Then came the presents!!

As we left, the sky was beautiful! The end of another birthday. Thanks so much for coming!

The Garden Of Blue Mushrooms

Welcome to the Garden Of Blue Mushrooms. Be careful not to eat one of these, because you may turn as luminous blue as they are. And now that spring is on it's way, I am done with being blue. I had great fun taking these pictures one night at the Botanical Garden. Just for YOU.

“Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.”

The Glass Spiders

These are hand blown spiders from a glass blowing store nearby. I hate spiders, and these are huge. So let's just say I won't be buying any.

Now for some butterflies. That is so much better!

Clear Skies

A few days ago, we had yet another snow storm and got six inches. The sky was white and grey.

But today the skies are this wonderful deep blue! Phil says the snow cleaned the air so that is why the sky is so blue. Not only that, we get an extra hour of light from now on, then spring! Happy days are here again!

Grey skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face
Brush off the clouds and cheer up
Put on a happy face
And spread sunshine all over the place
And put on a happy face

Walking The Dog

We had been out driving when it was just starting to get dark. In the dim light, this is what I saw.

It seemed to be a person with some kind of bright green light. So we stalked followed him a little way. Then we stopped the car beside him, and saw he was walking his dog. The light was an LED lighted dog chain! I told him I had never seen such a thing, and he said he got it at Wal-Mart. He was very nice to talk to me and let me take his picture.

I went home and looked it up and sure enough, there are many sizes and colors you can buy. Most are five dollars, and all are under twenty dollars. There are even lighted harnesses! So here are a few of the ones I found on line. Amazon has quite a lot. Who knew?

The Difference Is Day & Night

A new restaurant has opened here, The Silk Road. One afternoon, I saw these plastic trees in front of it as we drove past. I thought they looked so tacky, and all they needed to make the scene complete was a pink flamingo.

But then we drove past it one night. And in the dark, the whole scene had totally changed. The trees were lit up with tiny lights and were so pretty!

Their golden door is large and impressive, too. And their parking lot was full. Maybe we will try it.

“For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

Triple Birthday Party!

On Saturday, we went to a triple birthday party! It is the second birthday of our grandbaby Jaslyn, and the birthday of her mom. Also another family member's birthday! So come with me!! Here is the sun catcher hanging on the sun room door. Let's go in.

Inside the sun room, there are many beautiful plants, including this large amaryllis. My son and husband are huddled there deep in conversation. And I got a close up shot of my boy!

Here is our granddaughter Anne Marie and her mommy.

Time to eat! So let's move into the dining room. And the beautiful chandelier over the table.

After homemade pot pie, there was German chocolate cake for the grownups.

And the cupcake corner for the kids.

Speaking of kids, there were lots! Many more than the little ones on the couch. They were playing The Quiet Game.

 Time to open presents!!

This is one of the presents we gave her. How many of you remember this, or had one? Jazlyn was promptly chased down the hall by the other kids wanting to grab it. The two words that she has mastered are "NO! MINE!"

As we were leaving, we looked back to see the tiny birthday girl sitting happily in a chair surrounded by her gifts. It was a good day. Thank you for coming!
P.S. I know you remember that I cannot post any pictures of her sweet little face on line until the adoption is complete, phooey!

“Let me tell you what God said next.
He said, “You’re my son, and today is your birthday.
What do you want? Name it:
Nations as a present? Continents as a prize?
You can command them all to dance for you,
Or throw them out with tomorrow’s trash.”
