Here is the answer to yesterday’s mystery. Only one person guessed it, Heather Short. This giant watering can is in the city of Staunton, but the flower pots and shovel are in Fishersville, a city nearby, in front of a garden center. But they were both made by the same person. You can get an idea of the size by seeing my husband standing by the watering can. I think they are way cool. You know who these would be just the right size for? The giants of the Old Testament. No, giants aren’t just in fairy tales. There were races of giants, including the Anakites, and individual giants as well. Goliath was a Philistine. They were likely about nine feet tall, and Deuteronomy says they had “Walls up to the sky”. King Og was one of these giants, and he had an iron bed 13 feet long and 6 feet wide. I could sleep well in that!! So I’m thinking he would have loved these huge gardening things. The very first garden was the Garden Of Eden, and God was the gardener, and came down and walked in it. The English have spectacular gardens, due to all the rain and fog they have. I think most of our classic fictional detectives and mystery stories stories are set in England because of all the creepy fog. I will miss the gardens this winter, and the light. And I will eagerly await the return of spring.
