The Breath Of Life

As I sat in my doctor's waiting room today, I saw a touching sight. A white haired, elderly couple slowly came out of the office. The lady came out first, followed very closely behind by her husband (I'm assuming it was her husband). He followed right on her heels because he was carrying something for her. Unfortunatly it was not her purse. It was her portable oxygen tank. He did not look much healthier than she was, and the tank looked pretty hefty, but he was trying his best to care for her. I thought how he literally had her breath in his hands. Our each and every breath is in God's hands. How often do we even think about our breath? God made us in His image and breathed a bit of Himself into us when He created us. Did you know that God made all the other creatures either by forming them or speaking them into existance. Man is the only one who was filled with the breath of God. God had higher expectations of us than He got, but every day we are given a new chance to put each and every breath to good use and to glorify our maker. And when we do that, our last breath won't be our last, after all. It will be a whole new wonderful beginning. The greatest adventure of our life will truly be out of this world.

"The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Genesis 2:7

"But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding." job 32:8

A beautiful piece Ginny and the video is great.

I looked up your post on the chestnuts. When I was in high school I read everything I could find on Anne Frank, I remember that passage. Her life is an inspiration to anyone who is without hope.

I also saw in your post that the chestnut was a horse chestnut and you talked about how other chestnut trees had been wiped out. My tree is an American Chestnut, very rare for this part of the country. It was planted by a biologist who left it when we bought the house.

love the video and you are so right to remind us that we have the breath of God in us. Not sure how I feel about the photo of the hands, it is a little on the wierd side for me. i think i get the meaning though.
