Getting Pretty Antsy Around Here

I've noticed an alarming new trend this year. Ants as home decor. Take a closer look at the pretty flowers in my header. The arrangement is in a giant ant planter. Then there's this pedestal serving tray, which is being carried by ants. Because we all know just how tasty appetizers are when served by ants. Then there's a giant figure of an ant to hang on your kitchen counter or somewhere. So if the small ants don't drive you crazy enough, this huge one should do the trick. Kind of a mascot. Finally the napkin with an ant on it. If you are lucky enough to have no ants at your picnic, you still get to stare at one when you wipe your face and hands. Believe me when I tell you that's not all that's in the stores. Is life just too boring without something around to creep us out and make us jump? We have small ants in the kitchen, and today I found this one on my blood pressure pills. No joke, he stayed there all afternoon. Would you have brushed him away and taken the pills? I threw them away and took other ones.

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider it's ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores it's provisions in summer and gathers it's food at harvest." Proverbs 6:6

Oh, I'd have brushed it off and taken the pills. You know by now that I'm pretty tolerant of insects. Well, flies do test my patience.

BTW, I think those two ants are actually carrying the appies off to their own family picnic.

I don't know if I would have taken the pills -- however I have to say that the ant w/ the flowers & the ant napkin are quite cute!!

i would have brushed it off and killed it and then taken the pills. i love the header and the flowers are beautiful in the container, but I don't want giant ants in my house, or little ones either for that matter. the arrangement makes the planter ok, but I might not like it without the flowers. i think they keep inventing this to make people buy, buy buy. mother was in to frogs back in the late 60's so ants do not surprise me. great post ginny girl

Oh my gosh...I love the BIG ant. I want one and I know just where to put it in my living room. So cute.

Oh when those ants come marching in--I'm going to call the exterminator! I've fought them for years and they always win! But I'm ready with phone number in hand. Of course, they'll probably leave carrying a little sign that says "We shall return!".

Best,
Bonnie

I would definitely not have any ants as home decor.

Ant eating blood pressure medicine? I don't think I'd be eating those pills. I would be curious to know the ant's reaction to them though (haha)... But doubt I'd have the patience to wait and see. And would not like to leave it unsupervised. So I'd probably end up "putting it out of its misery" (or my misery) by more violent means...

I'm not sure I want ants of any kind in the house. I do enjoy your photos, however -- well except for the ants on the pills!

Cute decorations, but I don't like the real little bugs!! I'm with George in wondering what shape the medicine-eating ant was in!

I rarely have ants in my house, but I still have some in my car that got in when I left my windows down a little at David's.

Oh no..this is hilarious! OK, you are soft!! I like the napkin too! Well, have to respect the fact the they've got many good qualities! I love chameleons and I'm not pleased when my young cat goes after them -but cats eventually turn the attention over to bigger critters!
Another fun post.
I do hope you have a wonderful day!

The serving tray is so cute, that one I would love to have. The rest of the ants can stay in the store however. I would probably brush away the ant and, as Sandra said, killed him then taken the pills. I don't mind insects unless they are in my house.

From the Kitchen's comment reminded me of a song I used to teach kids at camp. "The ants go marching one by one, hooray, hurrah!"

Ugh, Ginny.... Luckily, we don't have any ants in the house --and really not many outside. I've heard that the tiny ones (which can come in the windows) are very hard to get rid of ... I hope your ant situation is not too bad. I'd be spraying like crazy....

Hugs,
Betsy
