The Bluebirds

They say that the bluebird of happiness is very hard to find. That may be because they are all living in my house! This is my collection of bleubirds, and I recently got a new one. Isn't this little crocheted bluebird cute? He is holding an umbrella and singing in the rain! My blog friend Doris over at Crocheting In Georgia, made him. She even wove tinsel into the umbrella that looks like rain! She crochets beautiful and whimsical things, and has an Etsy shop. Happiness is hard to find because it is dependant on circumstances, coming and going. But joy is an inner contentment no matter what, a constant thing. It comes from God and not things. I know people who have this joy and nothing shakes them, they worry about nothing. Not only does it give that bluebird a run for it's money, it beats him.

"But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful."

Psalm 68:3

Phil is correct--the car! It could have been so terrible but God was with them. It happened in Orlando after the older one had performed in her school concert.

Now, I must go to bed! It's 1 a.m. and I need to be up by 6 a.m.!!

Best,
Bonnie

Charming bluebird collection. Love the little crochet one with the tinsel rain. Too creative and cute. I love bird. I can hear them again with the Cochlear implant and how I cherish that those sounds. Hearing such simple bird songs give me happiness. Since most people take their hearing for granted, this most likely seems to be a very small thing, but to me its huge. So you beautiful little bird make me smile. Blessings.

Oh too funny..well it reminds me of a yellow one someone gave me long ago. The crochet work is nice and colorful. I know what you mean about outside circumstances (when the ship comes in..I'll be or- fill in)? The joy He gives is just different. This was a thoughtful post- thanks

Happiness is to know the Savior, living a life within His favor,
having a change in my behavior,
Happiness is the Lord! A little songs from my teens that just popped into mind when I read your post. Those bluebirds are too sweet! Love Doris' crochet work and the tinsel as rain is an added touch! Very cute! May you have peace like a river, joy like a fountain and love like an ocean in your heart!

I have been listening all morning to our mr and mrs cardinal birds. they are talking and have been all morning. a bright cheery back ground noise that i love. he sounds like he is calling a dog with his whistle and she sounds like she is gurgling back.

I don't think I'll ever think of rain quite the same now that I've seen that tinsel. A wonderful idea!
I think bluebirds are a perfect collection for you - one of the happiest people I know.

Our real bluebirds have been lazy this year and let the chickadees get a drop on the bird house. Still they peck on the window, like I can do something about it. Such funny birds.

Awww...you're so sweet to mention my crocheted work and giving the yellow umbrella the big header de jour!

You are right that happiness is fleeting and comes and goes, but inner joy is a constant that reflects in anything you do.

I see it in you, Ginny, and I'm so glad we met!

I never knew there was a superstition with blue birds and happiness. That's an interesting bit of information! I believe your happiness comes from you believing in it in the first place. It's not magic!
