The Watcher

This is the huge field where Phil and the rest of the soaring club play fly their gliders. And this is where you would have found Phil and I one evening at twilight a couple weeks ago. The field was empty and quiet, only the two of us there, and as usual I settled down to take pictures of the sunset while watching him fly his glider. When we went to leave, the car wouldn't start. Nothing. Not even a click. Phil discovered that acid had eaten through the battery cable. He rummaged in the trunk and found some medical tape and it started. Through all this we had watchers who came out into the twilight, but kept their distance. They were extremely curious. We made it home, though it quit once again. The next morning, our mechanic told him that the car could have exploded at the field while he worked on it. Many years ago, the car quit way out of town and he fixed the broken hose with a razor blade he found. Another time when the car quit, he fixed it enough to get us home, but whenever we needed to get in reverse, he had to get underneath the car while I kept my foot on the brake, yikes! I think someone else has been watching over us besides these deer.

"From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth - he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do...We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield."   Psalm33

A beautiful verse you have shared Ginny. Aren't the deer so graceful? So happy you were not stranded and that Phil was not injured.
Wishing you a restful night.

Blow up?! Holy Mother! Your deer-gelic watchers kept you safe. No wonder they looked startled and a bit worried. I have two words for you and Phil - Auto Club! Thank God you are safe.

The deer are so cool!! It is a good thing you two made it home safely..kind of risky but fun..course you didn't realize all that danger at first but you knew God would see you through. Phil needs some credit too (lol). So that's the name of the club he's involved in (the soaring club)? Bet you flopped on the bed afterwards!!

You had it right the first time....PLAY. :)

You do want to be careful with batteries since they release gases and could explode if a spark set them off.

first question. did that plane hit Phil? looks like a direct hit to me. YOWSA on the dead battery and whooo whooo on the visitors. bob does the same thing, we had a busted hose on the car on the interstate and as always it broke 25 miles from any exit, he had duct tape and a jug of water in the trunk, used his pocket knife, cut off the hose, stretched it to fit, and taped it fast. once he taped a hole in the hose on the interstate and walked across 6 lanes of traffic climbed a fence and walked through a pasture to a trailer way out in the middle and bummed a Clorox bottle full of water to get us to the next exit. we are blessed in deed to be married to fixers. once, i came out of Walmart and the car would not start. i called him, he came, took it out went inside, traded it for a new one, put it in and i drove home and the groceries did not even melt. we to are blessed, the fuel pump went out in the drive way on the corvette as we started it to drive to Savannah, he went to the parts store got the fuel pump and fixed it while i called mother to say we were leaving later than planned.

A friend of mine is an Arizona Highway Patrol officer. He told me once that he'd learned in all the years of accidents etc. that he does not believe in coincidences anymore. He went on to say just how many miracles from our Heavenly Father happen in a 24 hour period even down to the little tiny thing we never notice. I truly want to believe that. He was definately watching out for you guys that day.

And will you move out here because I need somebody handy who can fix a car. :)

Yipes---that is scary. Glad Phil got it fixed ---but tell him to be careful.... God does take care of all of us. Thanks be to GOD --and those gorgeous deer who were curious I'm sure.

I'm glad Phil was able to get you home, but I hope a more permanent repair was made the next day. I'm not as imaginative as Phil is when it comes to fixing cars -- that's why we are in AAA.
I picture of the deer watching you is neat, but the Psalm is perfect.

It looks like a great time of day for flying.

Sorry to hear about your auto woes but is sounds like Phil is pretty handy with repairs. The little watcher in the woods looks very curious about the goings on.

It's great that Phil is knowledgeable in the area of mechanics. And of course, having the one who watches over us all is great too! It's amazing what he helps men do who will make an effort.

Is the glider expensive? You don't fly?

Or are you just the watcher?
