Please Be Seated

Here are some photos of chairs I snapped that are either pretty or unusual, most of them Adirondack Chairs. The Adirondack Chair was first created in 1903 by Thomas Lee for his summer home in the Adirondack Mountains. He needed a chair that was very sturdy and stable on the mountainous ground. Although they are now a classic, If I were to sit in one of these, I would never be able to rise out of it! Tomorrow I'll tell you why Jesus is sitting in Heaven after he rose..

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory."
Colossians 3:1,4

Love the chairs. I've collected stuff thinking I would paint but never get around to it.
Thank you for telling me about your friend driving a truck 3 days after surgery!!

I have been to a place that had these and I know what you mean - they are comfortable but they sure are impossible to get out of. They slide your butt down so far - it's fallen and it can't get up! I like the second picture the best. sandie

I so agree with you - so pretty, yet so hard to get out of.... Don't think I've ever sat in one though. Hubby is already having trouble getting out of his regular easy chair, lol! Blessings!

I think these chairs look beautiful, but like you I had better not sit down in one.I might be there for a very long time, until someone came to help me up.Such are the joys of bad knees.

I pass a house nearby that has about 10 of these chairs lined up in their front yard and they are all different colors. I love them!

You can't go to China to visit Anne-maries' parents. They have this kind of keyhole toilets. My American friends say, can squat down, can't get up.

My nose, ever since I knew it, I had a blocked nose. Was that due to the peanut. I don't know. I seem to have allergy. I didn't know I was allergic to peanuts until I was an adult. My doc thought it would be good to check me out. They found me allergic to peanuts and dust mites.

My peanut story is one of the few funniest story in the family. My sis paid $150 to a specialist to get a small object from her nose. My story is told to all the young nieces and nephews, never ever put any thing small into your nose.

Yes I can see how those chairs could be useful on a mountain slope. On flat ground though... I too would be afraid I wouldn't be able to get out of it again!

Those are great chairs. They are comfortable but like some of the others said it's kind of awkward to get out of them. I love all the different colors but the palm tree painting is my favorite.

I'm reminded of the song, "Just Got To Heaven and I Can't Sit Down!" I understand about the Adirondack chair being difficult to get up out of...

Now picture 6 rockers are for my back porch. I cant get up from the Adirondack chair, way to low for me. I like the header with the colorful row of chairs, reminds me to the row of houses that are in colors somewhere??? Mind failed me... called "(something) Row" I think? they are in a coastal town. I know you, you just may know what I am talking about.

I love the chairs and the ones I have sat in are so comfortable...afraid I would have trouble getting up form one now, too.

I remember those chairs from my childhood. They were easy to get out of back then and they were white. Love the color and art work on them.

Best,
Bonnie

i like all the chairs and would choose to sit in the parrot chair, but would have to have a strong man around to get me up out of it. those weird and wonderful looking rockers i would like to own. were they for sale or somewhere you visited? i like that wicker looking thing in the middle. i saw chairs like your header today but no photo. we went to the beach for a couple of hours and walked more than 2 miles so when we were driving home and i saw them, i thought go back and take their photo

Ginny -- I LOVE this post! I always enjoy 'happy' pictures, and these are cheerful, indeed!

As always, you choose such great verses to go along with them -- thanks for the inspiration, as well as the eye candy in your photos.!

I would love to be seated in either one of those chairs having a chat with you.

Wonderful chairs and verses on heavenly seating arrangements. I, too, now have to chose carefully where I sit or I will need a crane to get me up!

Ginny, I am laughing, happily because as I said in the post from today, (I go backwards) I love these chairs because home is the Adirondack mt area of NY state. These chairs make me so homesick. But I am laughing because I always thought they were hard to get out of and never heard anyone in NY say that! Too funny. One thing, once seated, they make it wonderful to hold one or two children on your lap withou them falling off! Just saying.....Blessings,
Lynn

Ya, realized I'm actually having to be careful getting in my car these days cause the seats low? I guess I could handle these pretty chairs with some extra padding! (Lol)..can never get enough! They'd probably work good here with our terrain!
