The Webs

Driving around the day after Halloween, there are still some decorations in yards. Namely, the webs. Around here, people are really big on spider webs. And truth to be told, spider decorations are the only scary thing to me. I am terrified of all things spider. These are just a few from our neighborhood.

And finally, here is a picture I took of a REAL spider web. Did you know that hummingbirds gather web silk to put in their nests? It is thinner than a human hair and as strong as steel.

From birth to death, every man is weaving destiny around himself, as a spider does his web. ~Helena P. Blavatsky

Your decoration looks beautiful. It is done with thin white thread...

You always inform us of something new and interesting. This area really went out for the webs. Our neighborhood did very little decorating.

I would hate to clean that mess up. Just hope they
had fun.

I like the second one down. Not overstated but still get the spider web look.
I had no idea about hummingbirds use the web silk for their nests. How interesting

Very interesting about the hummingbird using the spider's web. I stay busy keeping "real" spider webs off the porch and windows! lol

I'm not a fan of spiders, either. ugh! Little sneaky critters scare me! The web I like best is the real one, although the one around the tree with the red leaves is interesting.

I have never done one of those webs, but they do seem like they'd be troublesome to take down!

Wow.. they really take the trouble to make it so real for the festive season. I would never have the patience and skill to do that.. :)

Great decorations! I really love the header photo where the red leaves are caught in the web! The web in the 2nd photo looks a bit like a veil :-)
I didn't know that hummingbirds use web silk for their nests!

Yes, I did know that about the hummingbird nests. These webs around your 'hood are super cool.

Neither do I like anything about spiders and their webs. Putting up the webs is easy but I don't know about taking them down. I don't know about the hummingbirds but the real web is surely better than the imitations.
