The Black Fridge

Nice chicken statue, huh?

Except that it's alive! A family a couple blocks away has about 50 chickens, and they are selling the eggs. Fresh laid every day. So we just HAD to go. When we got there, the chickens had escaped and were running in the road and flying up into trees!

Here is their sign in front of the house.

And here is Phil buying the eggs from the black fridge on the porch. With a nervous hen looking on.

Their mailbox is beautiful!

And their little tree had just started to bloom.

Here is the chicken's home out back.

This one came running up to us like a dog!

The black bunny was hanging out!

And these beehives were across the street!

Here is the black fridge.

And here are our eggs. They lay all different colors, I am waiting for the blue ones. I will be buying these from now on!!! YUM!

“Then he got really nervous and swore. “I don’t know the man!” Just then a rooster crowed. Peter remembered what Jesus had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” He went out and cried and cried and cried.
Matthew 26

When I saw your header picture, I thought these were eggs that you had colored for Easter. I have never seen a blue egg. Although I've never seen any eggs other than white and brown.

Nice to be able to buy eggs where the chickens are free to run, I hat the idea of them being in cages and always buy free range. Of course I rely on the honesty of the sellers for this.

these eggs are so pretty they don't need to be colored. i am thinking they taste so much better than from the store... at first i thought you bought a new fridge... so they trust people to put money in a jar? the chickens are really pretty and healthy looking.. i could not live next door if they have crowing roosters. back in the 70's i had a death wish on the one across the street from us.... he never shut up..

I don't think I've ever seen colored fresh eggs before. I hope they will taste as good as they look.

Wow! How fascinating they lay eggs in many different colors - especially blue one! I've never seen that before! They look very pretty :-) I see a kitty behind the sign. I guess the kitty is used to chikens. Goro and Niko would go all excited if they were there :-)

Fresh eggs are the best! Did you notice the yolks are bigger and brighter?
Irving is trying to make ordinances so people can’t keep chickens in town. It failed to pass and that was good for my friend, Debbie, because she has such a good flock of these feathered friends! We go back to the country on Friday and that’s good. I’m just about out of fresh eggs!
