August Moon

Tonight was the full August Moon! This one is called the Sturgeon Moon, as fishing tribes found this large fish of the Great Lakes region more easy to be caught in August.

Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

Last night the moon was hiding behind a lot of clouds here. I guess this would be a good time to go out fishing for Sturgeon.

Beautiful moon! Last night the moon was bright but it won't turn up well using my phone camera. Have a wonderful weekend!

your moon shots are always excellent.. I have never taken one as clear as yours... mankind has always used the moon and the stars and the sun to tell when and where to fish, hunt or plant...

There are several interesting things that go on with the moon, but we do not seem to be able see them here, You did a super job on these.

How do you know all the different moons Ginny? You know they pulled them from the right side of the boat don't you?
