I discovered a new flower this summer! It is a bush called Jewelweed. It really doesn't look like much until you look up close.
Then you will see many tiny flowers hanging like ornaments from the bush.
They are really tiny, maybe not more than two inches. But so exquisite!
Jewelweed has a long history of use in Native
American medicine. When applied topically, sap from the stem and leaves is said
to a variety of ailments, including hives, poison ivy, even athlete’s foot.
Have YOU ever seen a Jewelweed bush?
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I think it is interesting that from a far away perspective it didn't look like more. you come closer and it is beautiful. People are that way too. sandie
I know I have heard that name, but am not really all that familiar with this plant. It really is quite lovely.
These flowers look like orchid flowers but I have not seen these flowers before. These flowers are like human beings. From a distance, they may not seem nice or friendly but when we get to know them better, they are actually very nice and friendly people. Have a beautiful weekend!
This is a wonderful post on the Jewelweed Ginny. You have taken perfect photos. I didn’t know about its medicinal qualities, so was glad to add that to my knowledge of this beautiful little flower. Thank you and what fun to publish the same flower in our posts today. Your header is gorgeous!
P.s. loved the quote also :)
What a beautiful name, and through your blog, Ginny, there are so much beauty in the garden that I did not know before and now I do... :)
Not only have I never heard of jewelweed but I've never heard of it either. Those little flowers are quite unique and pretty.
this is my first ever viewing of a jewelweed. it does look like jewels.. love the colors and things that are teeny tiny fascinate me more than normal sized.
I don't think I've ever seen a jewelweed bush. It's a lot prettier as yu get close tan the name implies.

So pretty! Orange is my new favorite color so I think I need some of these in my yard!

They look like mini-trumpet vine blossoms...all new to me.
