The Path

A few years ago, our city made a new walking path. It runs along the river, and is paved and fairly level. It  is called the South River Greenway, and is a little over a mile long. For the first time, we went to take a look on Sunday. It is less than five minutes from our house.  Since I cannot walk any distance anymore, Phil wheeled me in out transport chair. The first thing I noticed were these lovely trees lining the sides of the path.

These are River Birch trees, and I love the trunks!

There was Pokeweed that was just a bit past it's prime.

And assorted small wildflowers.

The squirrels were enjoying the trail too.

Through all the bushes, you can see a peek of the river. It runs alongside the entire trail.

As we left, I spotted this man with his walker, oxygen, and dog.

It's hard when you can't walk distances like before isn't it?
Both of us used to take long walks in the country and along the seafront but we can't do it now.
We're thinking of getting a small buggy that we can fold and fit into the car for Tom as he's getting so short of breath, maybe I can get one of those skate boards and attach it somehow to pull along behind, lol
The bark on the trees is just lovely, I never get tired of nature's beauty.

Ginny, you are an artist with your posts. They have a message and a theme and all reflect your faith. I love how you do your background, header and post to coordinate. I love and admire you more than you know. Love and prayers from Texas!

LOVE those trees that are peeling.... glad you got the outdoor walking even if you had to be pushed

I think more and more cities are bulding green-way walking paths. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the one near your home.
