Then I spotted this in an alley. Even with autumn upon us, and the storm coming on Monday, this Wild Sunflower bush had bloomed almost overnight it seemed!
There was also a whole lot of clucking going on. This hen was also looking at the flowers, perhaps guarding them from us! The watch hen never moved, just clucked and clucked until we left.
“An acre of land between the
shore and the hills...
A garden I need never go beyond,
Broken but neat, whose sunflowers every one
Are fit to be the sign of the Rising Sun...”

You saw ovely these on your drive to the groscery store Ginny. Have a great weekend.
That must have been a beautiful drive with the lovely view of the mountains and clear sky, bright flowers and the chubby hen clucking away. Have a beautiful weekend and stay safe!
So beautiful!
The chicken looked like an ornament at first. :)
What a lovely scenic drive to the store. I've never seen a wild sunflower bush before. That's really pretty.
oh my, do you think the watch hen is our sister? or maybe our mother and is named Henny Penny???? did she look up at the sky while clucking? that bush is a Mexican Sunflower bush. our neighbor has one, i have a post somewhere with photos from it.... i want one and intended to plant one and never did. the bush makes me feel so happy looking at it
So much beauty. Thanks for sharing the things you encounter.
What a pretty hen! I love the wild sunflowers too. You live in such a beautiful area.
What lovely sceneries. The wild sunflower bush looks so huge and beautiful! Sounds like the watch hen took guarding job very seriously :-)
Your wild sunflowers are doing much better than our, but since it is so dry here, I admire our and their tenacity. I hope the storm won't be too bad where you are. It's just awful what's been going on with all the flooding.
Okay when ever you go any where - it is gorgeous there. I want to move there. So pretty.
