The Artist

The new city mural I posted about yesterday was the headline in the local paper today! They had an interview with the artist, Niles Westergard. His paintings are on the walls in London, The Prague, Berlin, The Hague, & Belgium. He faced several challenges with this mural. Because of all the power lines, he had to use a long pole. The crane was $18,000 a week, and the engine failed. The new crane also had engine problems. The wall was so old and crumbly that the bricks and mortar would fall out while he painted! But he gave no explanation on his choice of subject.

It was quite a challenge for the artist. Amazing amount of money to rent the crane. Lately I have had to pass a large construction sight with five cranes. Puts those into perspective for me now. Thank you for sharing Ginny :)

It is huge! He went through a lot of trials to get that done. Why in the world would the newspaper not ask him what it represented?

Well he sure had a lot of obstacles. That's not only a huge mural but it's a huge charge for that crane. Too bad he didn't give any information on the mural itself

Now, seeing it from a distance like that...it gives us a whole new perspective. I like it better from afar. Maybe doing a Google on the artist, you may find out about the subject?

I had no idea it cost that much for a crane!
