The Reveal - What the...?

Here is what the artists painted at the Street Art Festival last weekend.

I just don't understand it. Faces of unknown people. What gives? Why didn't they paint pretty scenery or something to represent our area. You may remember that last year, this was painted. do you have any input?

Anyway, as an extra they painted the bottom of the building across the street. It's cute, but would be more appropriate on an elementary school.

There are some really talented people in this world. Many different types of artist. You can clearly see that they have the ability to paint and I believe their art is quite distinguishable and diverse.

I LOVE your quote.

I love the quote too. So do they paint the same buildings every year and take the old paint off or do they do new paintings on different walls.

I truly do not get it!

I think along the same lines as you do. I prefer the murals that give a history of the town but I would like to know who these people are and why they were chosen. They are beautifully done and the artist has great talent. However, I would have like to have been in on that meeting when it was decided what to paint.

What, you wonder, is the meaning of tulips for hair? I'm sorry but either the artist was smoking something, or the person depicted had a flowery past. Odd mural.

The paintings themselves are excellent but wouldn't be my subject choice. I'm curious about why the faces are what they chose to paint.
On the bottom of the other building it is kind of cute that they put chickens in with the dots since the sign says "free range"

On 2nd thought...maybe a cancer survivor OR the song "if you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair".

If only someone had interviewed the painters to find out the story behind their paintings.

These are going up all over the country. We have quite a few near us. I love them. They add so much colour,

These paintings must be good at attracting attention.

Ladies and flowers, I wonder, maybe there are reasons behind the subject choice?

We have a lot of huge portraits in our street art here as well. I'm thinking it takes a lot of talent to paint such huge realistic portraits and make sure you get the effect you want, seen from a distance. I like the first one in this blog post. It reminds me a bit of one in our city because it also "makes use of" the trees nearby, which means the image looks a bit different depending on where you stand when you see it - and also with the different seasons of the year.

WOW! Definitely lots of talent there.

very talented artists and I would think they get free murals by letting the artists paint what they are good at or famous for. maybe these were not paid for artists. I like the long view of the first one, the view from the header...

Sunday Sunset

I snapped these from the Target parking lot. The sun had just gone down, but the trees were hiding the very bottom part of the sunset. Life...
