Sharp!

I like taking pictures of Thistles. They have a certain kind of beauty to me, almost primitive. So here are some from this month. Watch out, the thorns are long are SHARP!

Teasels are very prickly too. Though their thorns are not  as huge, it would still be painful to walk through a patch.. These are going to seed.

Teasels always remind me of my Gran. She had some dried and dyed in a vase in her hall, I can still see them now. Isn't it funny how some images stay with you for ever?

Love the photos. I've always thought thistle was really pretty. I used to have a bunch growing on the side of the shed but since it's been torn down I don't get it there any more

I love them both and can't pick between the two of them. I don't think I've ever seen a teasel in real life I have seen thistles

I spent too much time as a boy pulling thistles out of the corn field to think of them as beautiful, but you definitely got some good pictures of them.

Hi Ginny. You are twinning with a west coast friend of mine today. She featured thistles as well. They are dangerous beauties but worth the careful effort to shoot and share.

Oh, these are lovely...and you got teasel in there, too. I just think thistle is beautiful in all stages...except like GEorge says if you have to get rid of it.

Thorns of thistles look really sharp! But they are very pretty flowers. Teasels, too :-)

Those are beautiful photos! One of the pups, Thor, ate a thistle and it cut the roof of his mouth and he had to be treated at the Vet's office. Since you are not allowed with them, he had a hard time. He managed to escape from them and ran toward the door. Poor little guy, he was so confused but he was better in a few days and they saved the thistle in a glass tube for us. I like this post very much, thank you for sharing with us. HUGS across the miles.

Yes one has to be careful around thistles but the birds love them when the seeds form and do not seem to have any problem with the sharpest of the thistles then,
