The Stargazer

Along with the Tiger Lilies, the Stargazers are also blooming now. I always like seeing the first ones of the season.

·        The Stargazer was first developed in 1978.

·        Ancient Greeks believed white lilies grew from the milk of Hera,  the queen of Greek deities.

They're pretty. I'm surprised they were developed so late...although I had never heard of them.

I remember hearing, during one of Dog The Bounty Hunter episodes, that stargazer lilies were Beth's favorite flower. Poor Beth... God rest her soul. She's been gone a year already. These are gorgeous, Ginny. Thank you for posting such beautiful pictures. Love, Andrea xoxo

I enjoy Greek Mythology also and was very interested about Hera’s connection to these flowers.

I love the stargazer lily. Their aroma is truly magical. Our son and his wife sent me a beautiful bouquet for Mother's Day this year. It contained two stargazers amongst several other gorgeous blooms, but it was the stargazers I could smell even across the room. So lovely. I can't grow anything so if you grew these, I am very jealous, haahahaa ... xoxo
