This New Year, I thought I would post something different than I usually do. Our son & his family went to a Winter Lantern Light Festival and sent us some photos and posted some on Facebook. Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

The Unusual
Here are some of te more unusual Christmas decorations around the neighorhood. Some make you wonder. This first one is a horn on the front of the house that they decorate for the seasons.
An ice skating pig.
A winged unicorn.
A really creepy guy decorated with tinsel and bells. Beside him is a dog skeleton wearing antlers. Perhaps they are re-using their Halloween decorations?
A snowman stuffed in a watering can.
A really cute fox.
And a peacock.

Re-Done
Thanks to some helpful tips from YOU, my faithful followers, I rearranged the centerpiece a bit, and used a pedestal bowl. Looks a bit better now.

The Gifts
A few of the gifts we got this year. Among other things, we each got a basket. Here is mine.
One thing that was in it, you can see a bit in the back, was this gorgeous frame with the granddaughter's photo in it. It is a cut wood design under glass.
And this Pioneer Woman travel mug.
I made a new centerpiece for the kitchen table today. But I don't think I like it. It is different pinecones Maybe it needs to have more added?

Christmas Day 2022
We had a lovely Christmas day with our son & his family. I had put out a kind of buffet.
The youngest, Jazz, had a blast opening her presents.
We got her a Karoke machine with flashing lights, and she was in Heaven.
We gave our middle granddaughter, Dara, her first cell phone. She was totally overcome!
They also got this flashing remote controlled flying ball.
When they flew it up near the ceiling, it made the prettiest light show.
They made the frosting drip dwn the sides of the gigerbread house. A cool look.
And I got some good alone time with Anne Marir, our oldest. She is going to both high school and governor's school, driving herself, and has a job as well. She had her coffee in a gingerbread mug.
At the end of the day, we took a group shot of us.

The Applachian Angels
There they were, all lined up for a block. The Applachian Angels. The building used to be a Luthern Church, now it is the Applachian Christian School, grades K thru 12. Every December they display the angels, each one representing a student who passed away. Each one, a tribute from the family.
As the sun set, they became a heavenly and otherworldly blue.
Lined up almost like soldiers ready for battle. But their earthly battles were over.
