Together While Apart

19 artists from 8 different states made this piece of artwork. It hangs in a lobby of our hospital, The University Of Virginia.

It was dedicated to the healthcare professionals, and created to combat the loneliness and isolation during the pandemic.

It travelled through various medical facilities for 10 months until it was finally awarded to our hospital.

It states:

"We see you, we thank you, and we celebrate and honor you. You are our heroes."

Each of the quilt squares is beautiful and meaningful, and a great tribute to our health care professionals. I was in ER a week ago and saw desperation there in the eyes of the people waiting and tiredness in the eyes of the staff. I started praying not only for me, but for the other patients and for the doctors and nurses, they had sad and tired eyes. This is a wonderful quilt for them.

it is stunning and the one I like the most is Love yourself, with all the lace on it.. what a super idea, and glad your hospital is the final resting place.

This art piece is so nice, Ginny. And how wonderful that it was given to the healthcare workers at your hospital. It would surely be uplifting with all its bright colors and sentiments. I like the one with the mountains - it has all the colors of the rainbow.

Have a good Spring week, Ginny. Have I told you lately that I enjoy and appreciate your blog?

What a lovely idea, and a labor of love.
I'm sure the healthcare workers in those hospitals must have been very touched.
The individual squares you captured are beautiful.

My emergency room visits have left me with a strong appreciation for the insight, humor and compassion of nurses who deal with the continuous deluge of patients, some appreciative and others downright abusive.
