March 1st

Happy first day of March! Today is the first day of meteorological spring! As usual on the first of the month, I will show my calendar.

Today we saw our first and only sign of spring. These tiny Crocus coming up beside the river.

The Rest Of The Visit

Today was a good outcome. I had a 3-D X-Ray of my head, and no abscess was seen. They think I have shingles in my mouth again and I am on an anti-viral medicine. On the visit to the hospital, they still had a flower painting on each floor of the parking lot.

We went past all of the levels and had to park on the roof!

The office still had Valentine decorations up.

They also had this painting on the wall.

On the way home, we passed our granddaughter's college. We always look for her in the crowds of students.

This is right across from the campus and called "The Corner". It is a couple blocks of all kinds of specially shops...tacos, hot cookie delivery, Starbucks, a bagel place, etc.

Good thing the students can walk there, as first year students are not allowed to have their cars.

A Day Off

I woke up this morning with pain in the roof of my mouth and around that area. Went to the doctor, she sent me to the dentist. The verdict is that I either have shingles in my mouth (which I had once before) or I have an abscess above the roof of my mouth. They are sending me to a specialist today (Thursday) for a M.R.I. of my head. The office is out of town, so I will not be visiting blogs today. Depending on what is wrong with me, I may need to take more than a day off. See you soon, though!!

Waiting Room

In yesterday's post, I asked where you thought these lights were.

We were in the large University Hospital, and going past their family doctor's office. The wall was mostly glass, and everyone passing could see these pretty lights.

On the side of the wall was this. Next post I will show you more of the visit.

What a fascinating mix a hospital can be of people in a huge hurry and people too slow to get out of their way.

The Blue Light District

A guessing game! Do you have any idea what and where this is? It is hard.

So here is a little clue.

The answer in my next post!

Shiny Sundy

Here are more of the C.D.'s that people hang in their gardens to scare the birds away. They are so pretty when the sun shines on them.

But crows love shiny things! So how would this ever keep them away?

The Bamboo & The Rainbow

This is a house up the street from us. We passed it one evening after dark, and what a surprise! We saw these lovely bamboo windows! I think they may have been on either side of the front door, but it was too dark to see well.

At the Mcdonald's drive-thru, we saw this rainbow on their menu!

“The bamboo is very much loved by the zen poets for its tremendous quality of being hollow. Out of this hollowness of the bamboo, a flute can be made. The bamboo will not sing, but it can allow any song to pass through it.”

Just Push It!

I saw this on Facebook and it really tickled me. Cats and computers are a real thing. Cats seem to be drawn to them.

Of all the places in the house, our son's cat chose to vomit on the computer keyboard. Our cat Cher loved computers, too. Here is the proof.

We have had many cats. And yes, our two Siamese where named Sonny & Cher. Cher loved the computer the most.

The Kiss Of Death

This life size statuary known as the “Kiss of Death” was sculpted in white marble and was erected in 1930. It is in Poblenou Cemetery, Barcelona, Spain. It depicts a winged skeleton taking the life of a young man by way of a tender kiss. It is almost like a loving embrace.

It marks the grave of a local textile manufacturer. It is believed he died at a young age.

It depicts the idea of embracing death rather than fearing it. The delicate details capture both soft skin and bony fingers elegantly.

The Snow Moon

This month's full moon is called The Snow Moon. February has more snow than any other month.

It looked full to me. But it was actually four or five days away from being full! I had to snap it early though, due to the oncoming weather.

Sunday Sunset - Sunspots

We were driving home at sunset time when we saw this. These are technically called "Sun Dogs". I do not like this name, and call them Sun Spots.

They are caused by the sun reflecting off of ice crystals high up in the atmosphere. They appear around sunset and there is often one on each side of the sun.

Then it appeared as a streak across the sky!

Then it broke into two and became double!

They only last a minute or two, then are gone in the blink of an eye!

  1. "Sun dogs remind us that beauty often appears in unexpected forms."
  2. "Like sun dogs, life’s wonders can be fleeting yet magnificent."
  3. "Sun dogs are nature's way of showing us that light can create magic."
  4. "Witnessing a sun dog is a reminder that the universe is full of surprises."
  5. "The fleeting beauty of sun dogs encourages us to cherish each moment."
