The Kiss Of Death

This life size statuary known as the “Kiss of Death” was sculpted in white marble and was erected in 1930. It is in Poblenou Cemetery, Barcelona, Spain. It depicts a winged skeleton taking the life of a young man by way of a tender kiss. It is almost like a loving embrace.

It marks the grave of a local textile manufacturer. It is believed he died at a young age.

It depicts the idea of embracing death rather than fearing it. The delicate details capture both soft skin and bony fingers elegantly.

  • “Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there’s a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see” – Helen Keller

I must say I don't like skeletons, but the Helen Keller quote is moving.

It is a very impressive statue... Death appears as a savior as an ally rather than as a bogeyman... very impressive.
Many greetings to you.
I wish you a happy day.

The Kiss of Death is such a haunting yet beautiful piece of art. There’s something deeply poetic about the way it captures the contrast between love and loss, tenderness and finality

I don't care for this at all. gifted artist to create it but the skeleton angel is not what an angel looks like in my heart and head,

That is a very dramatic image. It’s probably a sculpture people will respond to with strong emotions, one way or the other.

Impressive sculpture. The artists work is amazing. I find it a bit creepy though. Like Sandra said that's not how I would envision an angel.
I love the quote by Helen Keller.

While I'm sure it took skill to create, I can't say I like it!

Its an amazing sculpture in detailed marble but I can't say I like the statue at all. the skeleton is just too creepy to be a KIND embrace to me.
The quote from Helen Keller is wonderful. What a promise that she will have her sight in heaven.

I would definitely say that this is a DIFFERENT sculpture. I'm not a big fan of skeletons, but a lot of people are. Hope y'all are not getting hammered with another snow and ice storm...stay safe.
