On this day in history, in 1882, Dubuque, Iowa, experienced a bad hailstorm that caused considerable damage. Some hailstones measured 17 inches!
The local officer in the to the U.S.
Army Signal Corps noted that a resident had discovered two
live frogs imbedded in hail.
To commemorate this, I have snapped some photos of frogs. But not in hail.

I had never heard of that storm. I wonder if those two frogs embedded in the ice survived.
