Our son & his family have a dog named Vivian. Vivian is terrified of thunder. While the family was away, a big thunderstorm came.
Vivian chewed through the wood basement door so she could get to the basement and hide. It had a cat door, but she chewed a much larger space. They came home to find blood in every room and a blood-soaked door. Vivians's mouth was full of blood. Here is a bad photo from the cell phone.
The vet said she was fine today and gave her some tranquilizers. And so it goes...
“A dog’s definition of ‘forbidden’ is anything that fits in the mouth and wasn’t handed over with a treat.”

Hi Ginny, poor Vivian. 😢 Glad she is okay and that she didn't cause anymore damage.
Whatever scared her must have been overwhelming; it's heartbreaking to imagine her in such a panic that she hurt herself trying to find a place to feel safe
Poor Vivian! We used to have a dog who was terrified of the sound of fireworks on Guy Fawkes Night when I was growing up. Dogs seem to be generally scared of thunder I think but dear Vivian must have been extra terrified.
this hurts my heart for that poor sweet dog and for the family, I know their hearts hurt for her to. so glad she is ok, but I know her mouth must still hurt.
