The Angels

For the last few years, I have been posting The Appalachian Angels at Christmas time. They are in front of The Appalachian Christian School.

Each angel represents a student who has passed away, with their family's name on it. The angels span at least two blocks. So I am thinking these represent the students all of the Appalachian Schools, not just this one school.

This one has a tiny wreath atop it's head.

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2

It is a very heartwarming and very special thing they do. These angels bring comfort to those who still mourn their children, as will the Scripture you chose from the Gospel of Luke.

As lovely as they look it's also sad to see so many of them. That is a lot of children to have passed away. How long ago was this started?

they are amazing and sad at the same time. these last few days, the violence in our world has seemed to escalate, hate if filling the air instead of love and caring and more angels will be needed. the tiny wreath is heart breaking

What a powerful remembrance.
It is a reminder that we need to be praying for our children and the children of this present world.
