The Sunflower Field

We went to see a large field full of giant sunflowers! But when we got there, they were so tall that we could see only the first row (:  Plus they were on a small hill. With a ditch in front. That I was not able to cross. Phil did navigate the terrain to stand in front of the field! While I clung to a pole and snapped him. Better luck next time I guess.

It's what the sunflowers do."

Dream Catcher

Anne Marie spent the day with me last week, and I had a craft for her. It is a dream catcher necklace. Dream catchers originated with the Ojibwe Indians. When placed near your bed at night, they are supposed the catch the bad dreams and only let the good ones through. I think she did a pretty god job making this one.

Do you have many dreams, and do you dream in color?

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”
Ephesians 3

Warm Socks

MEOW! Daddy has brought the clean laundry upstairs. Today it is socks, our favorite. Form a line and wait your turn nicely.

“Soak me in your laundry and I’ll come out clean, scrub me and I’ll have a snow-white life.

The Stones

We pass this small motel a lot, and the front lawn has always been empty. Until recently. Every time we passed, this was built a little more. WHAT was it? We theorized it is a replica of an Indian burial ground, or ancient stone circle. Lets look closer and closer.

SO, the other day we pulled in and asked the owner. Turns out it is nothing! His friends are artists and wanted to make the front look pretty. It is still a work in progress. Just an artistic expression. I was kind of disappointed, and liked it better when it was a mystery. Because then the possibilities were endless. But at least we KNOW now.

“Then David took his shepherd’s staff, selected five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in the pocket of his shepherd’s pack, and with his sling in his hand approached Goliath…David reached into his pocket for a stone, slung it, and hit the Philistine hard in the forehead…That’s how David beat the Philistine—with a sling and a stone. He hit him and killed him. No sword for David!”

At The Vet

There is a huge bulletin board in our vet's waiting room. They change it each season, and the staff does such a good job with design! Here is the one for Fall.

The Lace

The Queen Anne's Lace this year were abundant, and bloomed for months! But now they are almost gone. I love the way they open up like little baskets. Here are this years blooms.

Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it?”

Only In The South

Look what we drove past; a camouflage recliner. It was for sale, and we had to turn in and take some pictures. Since we could see it, maybe it was not very camouflaged! Maybe it is for someone who wants to hide in their own house.

“He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; He’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him!”

Shine On, Harvest Moon

Tonight was the full Harvest Moon. O.K., I was one day late. But there were too many clouds last night! Big and orange, watch it rise with me.

“But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the Word, embrace it, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams.”

Trade Blankets

Dale Chihuly, the famous glass designer, has a wonderful collection of Indian Trade Blankets. He has also made his own, and woven glass threads in into them. Here are some of the blankets in his huge collection. They were even more gorgeous seeing them in person!

The American Indians used these blankets for almost everything. How they were worn, and how the designs met and overlapped were of great significance. They would take them to trading posts and trade them for goods. They even traded them for mass made blankets, which were much more inferior. They thought these were warmer and prettier.

“She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.”

Strangers

The other day, I happened upon some strangers. Though they were quite different, they seemed relaxed among us.

Then I noticed that a few of them were standing in line to use the bathroom. Uh oh. Wonder which bathroom they will use? Whichever one they choose, I fear that some will not like it. And I wasn't hanging around to find out!

Thru A Fence Brightly

While we were out, I spotted the sun as it was setting. But it was through a fence, phooey! It was too late to go anywhere else, so I had to stay and snap. Well, it was different for sure. Pictures in order as it set.

Grassy

Wondering what I would put in this purse. Maybe dirt? Or fertilizer. But it would smell when I carried it into church.

I suppose I would have to water it every so often. Perhaps with this.

Of course, some of the dogs around here may try to roll in it. Especially this one. But in the winter, it would always smell like summer!

True, the grass withers and the wildflowers fade, but our God’s Word stands firm and forever.”
