One clear thing I could snap without the fence in the way was his eyes. They fascinated me. The eyes of this fisher seemed to have no emotion in them.
The best
things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes,
flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you.
Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes,
certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

How cool that you were able to get so close. He must be used to humans being around. That eye is pretty fascinating.
I have always thought birds have creepy eyes, and have never been a fan of birds. in fact did not like birds at all, but in 2006 when I got my first DSLR and went out every week end to bird preserves with a bird lover, I started to feel differently about them. now I like them, and think they are beautiful, but will never be a birder..
I agree, his eyes look kinda emotionless. I wionder what is going on in his mind :-) He is certainly beautiful, though!
Great photos of the Heron Ginny, those eyes are mesmerizing. Focused on those fish no doubt :) Great quote too.
Amazing shots Ginny! I love how close you were able to get.
Hew does look like he has no emotion (or that poem) in his life.
These are great captures, Ginny!
Oh wow! Those ayes are so intent on catching that next meal.
Amazing capture Ginny!!
Love, Carla
So wonderful that you were able to get close to the bird without it flying away. Great picture of the close up of the bird. Happy day!
