Another Baby!

The evening we spotted something remarkable! A juvenille Black Crowned night Heron! You may remember earlier this summer I posted a glimpse of one. And apparently the Herons have had yet another chick!

The thing is, it was past sunset, and we were a distance away, on the other side of a chain link fence! Having said that, here is an awful photo of the parent! The parent was underneath the chick by the water, and it looked like it was trying to teach baby to fish! Wish I could have captured them both together.

That chick looks a bit worried, is it about to fly somewhere? Thank God for low branches, I never thought of that.

Ohhhh, precious....

Kind of looks like the chick is having no part in the-being-taught. lol
He looks like he is grumpy, about the whole thing. But that is just his look, I suppose.

I agree that the baby heron looks a tad grumpy. The hunched shoulder area does that. Glad you were able to discover it.

Awww, so cute! I just put up a bird feeder right outside my bay window in the kitchen. I get a front row view of the sweetest visitors!
Love your pictures,

Once had a photographer colleague who was so excited to get photos of that species. He would have been so in awe that you also captured images of the youngsters. Truly awesome!

I enjoyed these and I like that last photo. It's been a long time since I saw a heron such as these.
