Every April, Pinwheel Gardens spring up around town. But for some reason, I have only seen one so far this month!
During Child Abuse
Prevention Month in April, “pinwheel gardens” have been popping up
around the country in an effort to bring awareness to child abuse. For nearly
15 years, “Pinwheels for Prevention” gardens have been “planted” as
a representative visual of children affected by child abuse and neglect. Pinwheels
were adopted to personify a carefree childhood, and the blue color aligns with
the blue ribbons that are a common symbol showing support for the issue.

Knowing the meaning behind the pinwheels makes this a very sad garden. It's heartbreaking that there are that many children affected by abuse or neglect.
I appreciate this symbolism, but am disheartened by how common it is!!!
I have not seen the pinwheel gardens and don't remember seeing anything about it. very sad,that this is needed to make us aware of child abuse. it is rampant and sadly always has been. and the courts put children in the foster system and they are among the most abused. it is heart breaking

What a delightful pinwheel garden. I am loving the blue ones they put on their lawn. This is such a great way to show their support of this good organization. Children are special little people, and they should always be treated with love and goodness. And we should always protect the children.

And we never really know how many are affected. Things can look so perfect on the outside with neighborhoods and homes, yet sadness may be within. It's good to be aware. The pinwheels are beautiful but sad. It's good that it touches people's hearts with compassion.

Though it is pretty, it's sad that there has to be one.

I've never heard of that, but how cool and sad at the same time.
Very sad but these gardens bring attention to a really sad part of our society, one that needs to be ended.
