The Purples

Around here, most Rhododendron bushes are purple. And they were beautiful this year! Big and lush.

“Purple is the most retiring of all rich colors. It is symbolical of dignity, state, and regal power and is expressive of gravity, sorrow, and sadness.”

The Big Potato

There it was. We were driving down the highway, and spotted The Big Potato truck parked in a small parking lot. This is about the third time we have seen it.

A lot of people were there taking pics with it.

The truck travels around the country promoting Idaho potatoes. They had a craft booth for the kids, too.

This potato weighs 4 tons and would make over a million fries. Of course, it is not real.

What’s a potato’s favorite horror movie?

The Silence of the Yams.

Memorial Day 2023

We saw this in the front yard of a house nearby.

Then we came across this small memorial.

They had a white board where you could write down the names of those who should be remembered.

And guess where this was. Right in the middle of the Lowe's parking lot! How great was that!

For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity.

The Heart Of The Matter

I have collected purses for as long as I can remember, and I have gotten a few too many. So I decided to give this one away. I have never used it, it is made by Longaberger (the basket people). This giveaway is only open to my followers.

The heart is all made from sequins.

If you want it, just leave me a comment. I will write your names on pieces of paper and draw one in a few days.  I will announce the winner on this blog, and will be asking them to give me their address.

It is quite small! 8" high and 11 1/2" wide. Here it is with my hand for perspective. Good luck!

Into The White

Come with me and look at the beautiful, fluffy white Peonies.

“White is not a mere absence of color; it is a shining and affirmative thing, as fierce as red, as definite as black. God paints in many colors; but He never paints so gorgeously, I had almost said so gaudily, as when He paints in white.”

Strawberries

Coming into the city of Crozet, one of the first things you see is this building.

Going into the parking lot and looking at the bottom of it, this is the rest.

Also, our son and family just went strawberry picking!

The Student

Who is playing this piano, and why?

It is this lady; Kay. I could not get her last name.

Kay is 85 years young, and is the oldest person ever to graduate from Virginia Tech College. She is Suma Cum Laude with honors in music.

Kay has been attending classes since 2007, and goes to a couple each semester. So she has been on campus for more than SIX DECADES!

Her husband drives her to and from class every day.

I saw this on the news and took the photos from the T.V. she has more energy than me!
