The Shoes

These are the oldest known pair of shoes ever found! They were found in Oregon in the 1930’s. They date back to about 10,000 years. About 100 pairs were found, including some kid’s sizes.

They were made of shredded sagebrush bark. A toe flap covers the top and they were held on by cords that tied around the ankle.

They are called “The Fort Rock Cave Sandals”, named after where they were found.

All photos are from the web.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares?... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

These shoes are so authentic. When I was young, grandma made me wear them for new year

Aren't those interesting. They look so primitive yet so clever using the strap around the back.

Now this is a cute quote! The minds of those way way before us, had to be so very creative. We depend mostly on machines for our needs and our ancestors depended on nature.

A very interesting fact. Years from now they may find lots of flip flops and crocks in many colours since they may not break down.

Wow so interesting. I do wonder what kind of shoes Jesus wore.

Don't think I could walk very far in those. :)

Those are ingenious, but they must have had strong, leathery feet. I doubt I could walk half a mile, lol.

I love those shoes! Where there is a need, someone, somewhere comes up with an idea. Love that.

Interesting find. I wonder how there came to be so many in one spot.

I wrote a comment and then it disappears. I have a new Chromebook and it's so much more sensitive than the older one. It's amazing that they found 100 pair of shoes and that some are well preserved. It's almost like they found an ancient shoe store.

How did I not know about these shoes since I was born and raised in Oregon?? Now I need to do a bit of research.
That quote at the end made me giggle. :)

Isn't that something! Wow, I'll have to show my kids this. That's history! And to think a pair was found in Oregon in the 1930's! This is very interesting, Ginny. Thanks for sharing. I chuckled at the quote too. Shoes are the last thing I seem to buy; clothes, purses, wallets, then shoes.

That’s an amazing find. I love it when you share things like this. Always very interesting. I also enjoyed the humorous quote at the end.

Stressed

You may remember that I had a chemical stress test scheduled a few weeks ago. It had to be rescheduled because of the weather. So today is ...
