A Real Knockout

These Knockout Roses are a real knockout! The ones in our neighborhood are blooming now, and there are lots. Knockouts are the fastest selling and most popular roses in America. This is partly due to their hardiness and disease resistance. They need no special care at all, like most other roses do. You might say that they are the soldiers among roses!

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.
The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit,
Trained by experience,
Tried by adversity
And tested by fire.

I am a volunteer in this Army,
And I am enlisted for eternity.
I will not get out,
Sell out,
Be talked out,
Or pushed out.

I am not a baby.
I do not need to be pampered,
Petted,
Primed up,
Pumped up,
Picked up,
Or pepped up.
I am a soldier.

I am not a wimp.
I am in place,
Saluting my King,
Obeying His orders,
Praising His name,
And building His kingdom!

No one has to send me flowers,
Gifts, food, cards or, candy.
I do not need to be cuddled,
Cradled,
Cared for, or catered to.
I am committed.

I cannot have my feelings hurt
Bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough
To turn me aside.

Even death cannot destroy me.
For when my Commander
Calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to Captain
And then allow me to rule with Him.
I am a soldier in the Army,
And I’m claiming victory.

I will not give up.
I will not turn around.
I am a soldier,
Marching Heaven bound.

Through The Wires Thursday

This weekend, we happened to drive by this pale pink house with rainbows on the chimneys. It really tickled me, what a great idea! I wish we had a chimney like this, we would always be living under a rainbow!! Till then, guess I'll just have to follow this ice-cream truck around the neighborhood. Not as good as a chimney, but it will have to do for now.

“Above the dome there was something that looked like a throne, sky-blue like a sapphire, with a human-like figure towering above the throne. ..Brightness everywhere! The way a rainbow springs out of the sky on a rainy day—that's what it was like. It turned out to be the Glory of God! When I saw all this, I fell to my knees, my face to the ground.”

Words

Pictures taken from my C.D. collection.

Smile an everlasting smile
A smile could bring you near to me
Don't ever let me find you gone
'Cause that would bring a tear to me
You think that I don't even mean
A singe word I say
It's only words, and words are all I have
To take your heart away
The Bee Gees

Robin is gone, and that does bring a tear to me. He is the second Bee Gee to die, after his twin brother. Now only one remains, Barry. The Bee Gees did indeed take my heart away with their words and their beautiful ballads and moving harmonies.  I bought the Bee Gees first album as a teenager and was hooked from then on, continuing to love them through being a bride, a young mom, middle aged, and now as a senior.  They continued to make beautiful music for decades. Only death has stopped their genius for songwriting. No more words from Robin. I hope he is listening to beautiful music.

“Blessed are you who give yourselves over to God... ignore what the world worships... Nothing and no one comes close to you! I start talking about you, telling what I know, and quickly run out of words. Neither numbers nor words account for you.”
Psalm 40:4,5

Mother's Day

My family came over to celebrate Mother's Day with me yesterday, a week late, because our schedules did not allow for it on the real day. The first picture is me with my son. And GOSH, in every Mother's Day picture I look shorter and shorter compared to him! Anne Marie came over in her new dress, and was so excited to be wearing her first pair of grown up wedge shoes!!! And look what she made me, she chose these flowers and made the pot herself. She chose and embedded each thing into the pot sides!! The shells are from her trips to the beach, and she bought the other things. And right in the middle, she spelled GRANDMA! If you think I posted too many pictures of it, you should see the others I didn't post! I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!!

“Good friend, follow your father's good advice; don't wander off from your mother's teachings. Wrap yourself in them from head to foot; wear them like a scarf around your neck. Wherever you walk, they'll guide you; whenever you rest, they'll guard you; when you wake up, they'll tell you what's next. For sound advice is a beacon, good teaching is a light, moral discipline is a life path.”

The Watchers

It's that time of year again, the Canada Geese have had their babies. They are always so cute to watch as they walk across the street. Mom and dad always do a splendid job of protecting them, never letting them get far away. One is always watching the babies, and the other is always watching for danger.

Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.
William Orcutt Cushing

I am taking off Monday, see you on Tuesday!!

9 * 2 * 5

Today was the official Dolly Parton Day. I had no idea until I woke up. It is today because today is 9/25. So it is because of her movie ...
