Just Super!

“I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.” ~Author Unknown
Tonight I was ready with my camera when the Super Moon rose! It is called super because it is much closer to the earth at this time, so it is bigger and brighter. And that's just super with me! It started out huge and orange, then as it rose it got paler and smaller. A beautiful sight to see. So if you didn't see it, here it is.

“As those out to get me come closer and closer, they go farther and farther from the truth you reveal; But you’re the closest of all to me, God, and all your judgments true. I’ve known all along from the evidence of your words that you meant them to last forever.”
Psalm 119

I Need Your Advice

Look what my friend gave me last week! It is so cute! It is meant to put in the bathroom and hold extra toilet paper.

After giving it a kiss, Sunny made fast friends with the pink kitty. I think he was rather in love! I hate to break the news that Miss Pink Kitty is not real!

BUT here is my problem, and I need your help. I love this gift, but our bathroom is tiny and it will not fit. Even if it did, can you imagine our cats playing with the toilet tissue? Anything heavy on it, and it topples. SO, I know so many of you are very talented and crafty...what can I do with it?

“God keeps track of the decent folk; what they do won’t soon be forgotten. In hard times, they’ll hold their heads high; when the shelves are bare, they’ll be full.”

The Air Is Full Of Sunlight & The Flag Is Full Of Stars

I love how my pictures turned out of the flag in front of the sunset! You know that Betsy Ross designed our first flag, but did you know that a high school student designed our current flag? It was a school project where Robert Heft designed a flag to include Alaska and Hawaii. He got a B- from his teacher. But in 1960, when President Eisenhower choose his design as our new flag, the teacher reconsidered and gave him a A.

“To the blessed land of Room Enough beyond the ocean bars,
Where the air is full of sunlight and the flag is full of stars.”

Henry Van Dyke

“Everybody everywhere, all earth-dwellers: When you see a flag flying on the mountain, look! When you hear the trumpet blown, listen!”

A July Fourth Meeting

For the fourth Of July, we decided to go to the hot air balloon festival about an hour away. My blogging friend of forever, Lisa, lived fairly close, too. So I talked her and her family into meeting us there. Usually many balloons take off at once and it is a spectacular sight. Finally they got a balloon fired up, and just as fast they put it down! Seems it was too windy for flying. I felt so bad, because Lisa's three adorable little boys were with her.

But the best thing for me was getting to meet sweet Lisa in person finally. She is so beautiful, and just as smart and gentle mannered.  And her boys are so polite and smart, it was a joy getting to know them! Gosh, I look like her grandmother!

Red, White, & Blue

Around here, people do a lot of festive decorating for the Fourth Of July. There will be lots of parties, fireworks, and good food. And thanks for our wonderful freedom. What will you be doing on the Fourth?

“And rejoice! Celebrate all the good things that God, your God, has given you and your family…”

Painting On Horses

Yes, that's right. Not painting pictures OF horses, but actually painting ON horses! Today as we rounded a bend, out of the corner of my eye I saw something strange on the Chick-Fil-A grounds. Here is my first glimpse.

We drove over and talked to the people. Seems it was children's day at Chick-Fil-A and to celebrate it, they had brought in two horses and paints with brushes. The kids were to paint on the horses, write on the horses, anything they wanted. I was totally flabbergasted! I watched little children writing all over the horses. The horses were very gentle and I am assuming the paints were food grade and would wash off later. Anymore, I just never know what I am going to see around here!

And as to why they had red reindeer antlers on the white horse? In the middle of the summer. Well, your guess is as good as mine.

“Solomon had forty thousand stalls for chariot horses and twelve thousand horsemen.”

The Rainbows

We had rain almost every day last week. Some were the kind of rain that the sun comes out right after. And you know what THAT means!

“God continued, I’m putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth. From now on, when I form a cloud over the Earth and the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and everything living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll see it and remember the eternal covenant between God and everything living, every last living creature on Earth.”

Twinkling Lights & Haunted Nights

Here are a few of the non-scary Halloween lights around our neighborhood. So many ghosts peeking out of the window at us. This house has a ...
