Festival Part 2 - The Crafts

 Now that we have seen the poinsettias, lets go into the other room and look at the craft vendors. First came the wreaths.

These were full of calming herbal scents for babies.

Then there was this booth that specialized in putting decor in unusual containers.

In a little suitcase. I loved this one and would have bought it. But it cost $30.00!

But this is what I bought. Because I liked it. I can keep it out all winter, and it was only $6.00.

It's much smaller than you would think. It fits in the palm of my hand.

The Poinsettia & Craft Festival - Part 1

 Every year, our garden center has a large poinsettia and craft festival. There are a lot of crafters who set up their booths, and of course plenty of poinsettias. Today is part one, the poinsettias. My next post will show you the crafts and what I bought.

The Thrift Store

 Here is a shot of Jazz. But my story is about what is on the wall over her.

A few weeks ago, we were at a Christmas thrift store. As we were at the door leaving, a lady came in with a large box to donate. On the very top was this hanging display shelving. I grabbed it out of the box, and they said I could have it for $10.00. The lady said it belonged to her sister-in-law and it is real wood. Quite a deal! It is one of my more exciting thrift buys.

The think is, the little openings are so tiny that it is hard to find anything small enough to fit in it! I did find the two snow globes at Dollar General.

Sunday Sunset - The Flame

 To me, this surely looks like there is a fire behind the clouds! But of course the flame is the sun.

“The flame dances, fragile yet fierce, a whisper of eternity in light.”

Apartments

 We have a lot of squirrels around here. See these lumps in the trees? They are homes that the squirrels built, called Dreys. These trees are whole apartment complexes!

They are made of twigs, leaves, and other, softer material on the inside. They typically stay in their dreys at night and during inclement weather, and return to their nests around dusk.

Many have been covered in snow this week. I hope they are well insulated!

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass

Christmas Kitchen 2025

 Time to sit down with some coffee, as there are quite a few photos! So here is what I did in the kitchen for Christmas.

I made this using a gravy boat that I found on a dollar aisle.

A Trip To The Grocery Store

 We have been stuck in the house for several days, due to snow and ice. Today the sun came out a bit, so we went to get groceries. It was a beautiful trip. There were lots of icicles. These are on our next-door neighbor's truck.

Here is our flag in the yard.

This was my favorite snow-laden tree.

The snow on the berry trees was beautiful. It looks just like Christmas.

There were some pretty things at the store, too.

The undisturbed snow was even pretty. It had fallen in sparkly blue waves, almost like the sea.
