This is a picture of our little granddaughter, Anne, who has just come to our house. She is always so incredibly happy to see us. Open arms of joy. And when she’s here, she doesn’t want to go anywhere else. A visit to our house must be a bit like Heaven for her. Our God is waiting for us with open arms like a loving grandparent. And like a grandparent, he wants us to tell Him everything that’s going on in our lives, and He can never hear from us too often. His open arms are waiting for us all the time. No matter how much we goof up. Deuteronomy 33:27 says “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” The story of the prodigal son tells us that “While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him. He ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him.” Notice it says he saw his son coming from a long way away. God sees and recognizes us when we are still a long, long way off. And his arms are open. And If little Anne thinks her grandparents house is great, It’s nothing compared to the mansion that our Father has waiting to welcome us home.

What a wonderful thought and a wonderful reminder in the smile of your granddaughter. How is her mom?
