A Portrait Of My Love

There could never be a portrait of my love
for nobody could paint a dream
You will never see a potrrait of my love
for miracles are never seen.
Ornadel/West

I wonder how many of you remember the old song "Portrait Of My Love"? Phil and I spent Mother's Day at our son's house, where more family had gathered to celebrate. We sat outside under their gazebo in the cool breeze and watched the kids play. Of course they brought their dolls to dinner, as any good mom would do! It was a lovely day, and us moms each got presents! Mine was two tickets to the new luxury movie theatre in town, and a portrait that our granddaughter had painted of herself!! It was even framed in a beautiful frame. What do you think, not a bad likeness for a five year old! The other big love in my life is my son Mike, pictured here with me. But there is no portrait of the one who loves us more than anyone, so much that he died for us. We do not know a thing about what he looked like in human form, but I am thinking it was very average. He could have been beautiful and swayed people by his looks, but chose not to, chose to be just like the average guy. This is all we know about how he looked.

"There was nothing attractive about him. Nothing to cause us to take a second look. He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand."   Isaiah 53

"Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privilages. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life, and then died a selfless, obedient death - and the worst kind of death at that - a crucifiction."   Philippians 2:8

Glad it worked for you, Ginny. I think the more you use the new editor, the more you will learn. I like it --but didn't at first (until I learned more about it).

Great post--and it's obvious that you had a beautiful Mother's Day.

Hugs,
Betsy

Your family is beautiful and that was so good how you ended with the Scripture about Jesus.

I am thinking you have a major artist coming up in your family. that drawing is really really good. it even looks like her. and she got all the details. i would take a bet on her becoming an artist. she should have drawing lessons. you are blessed with a beautiful and loving family and i am so glad you had a great day with your family on mothers day. happy happy you are fixed up with your posting now.

The hand-drawn painting by Anne Marie is what grabbed my attention in this post. Until I read your comments, I thought the child had painted a very good likness of you!Really.

Now I had never heard the song you mentioned - but it carries a great truth. Love cannot be captured on paper or in print. It is in-explicable joy and one need Webster's vocabulary to even scratch the surface when trying to explain the meaning.

Wow.. what lovely and memorable presents... it is not the price money that counts.. it is the love of family that is more important!

What a beautiful post! about six months ago I saw a documentary on the shroud of Turin and how they with computers and forensic experts made a 3 d image of what Jesus might of looked like. The image was so beautiful. I am so happy that you had a wonderful Mother's day! Blessings, Joanne
