"His way is in the whirlwind and the storm,
and clouds are the dust of his feet."
Nahum 1:3
We were caught in a scary storm yesterday. We were in the car, and pulled into a parking lot to wait it out. Lots of darkness, winds, and bolt lightening. In the first picture, that huge black streak from sky to ground is pouring rain heading our way. We sat and watched as finally the sun rays came out and shone all over town, and then, God's promise, the rainbow. From one end of town to the other, and at the same time, lightening bolts shooting through it! And the most marvelous sight of all, the rainbow going right through the middle of this church steeple!
"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind."

The first three pics are terrifying Ginny... But the kindness and the magic of God is revealed in full glory in the form of a rainbow, it passing through the church is a sight to behold...
Have a wonderful day :-)
Yes! what an angry storm that was.. but God promised that there would be no more floods and the rainbow is formed as a covenant..
Beautiful pics there, Ginny!
I'm glad you didn't get hurt or electrocuted... I love rainbows!
Glad that you were safe through the storm and that HE sent rainbows after. I so love to photograph rainbows. Funny thing about having a hubby recovery from surgery is that this summer I have not once paid attention to the tropics for developing hurricanes. I know there is some stuff out there and we are getting into the
height of the season so will need to pay attention. I did know there have been freaky storm around the country this past few days. Glad you were ok. BTW those blue flowers you liked on my blog are Plumbagos. They love the sun, the heat, and are drought resistant. In fact, they refuse to bloom for days after a drenching rain or a cloudy day. To me they are a little piece of beauty in a long hot summer. We have two bushes in the backyard. One apparently is sheltered too much by the branches of our oak tree and does not do as well as it should. The other one blooms, until it rains and then gets all stubborn and just sits there for a few more days. I love them too! Blessings on your day and week.
We had rain yesterday as I have never seen before. They say 10 inches and I believe it. Beautiful picture of the rainbow...God's promise.
Blessings, JOanne
The whole of NZ is talking about our polar blast. parts of my city even had a flurry of snow, first time since 75 years ago.
That's a really nasty looking storm. Looking at the photo I can see all the rain in the parking lot, good thing you pulled over and waited that one out.
The rainbow is gorgeous!
I know those storms well. Would you believe that I actually missed them when we lived in California? When they came in the night, my mother would wake us up to go downstairs. I'm not sure why since Roanoke wasn't known to have tornadoes. The steeple and the rainbow is a wonderful photo!
Best,
Bonnie
Good morning Ginny! All I can say is WOW and WOW!!! These pictures are awesome. We've had some pretty bad storms up this way as well. Oh, and I love your moon pictures from the last post too. We all know you have talent.. and you must have a very nice camera as well.. Hope you're enjoying your summer and staying cool.
I loved that you were capturing images of the storm's progress, even in the midst of such scary weather. That, too, is a lesson you leave us today: There are scary times when only faith in God can keep us functioning! Thanks, Ginny!
Beautiful shots of a scary time of storms! We've had a polar blast - it's only 8/48 this morning. I think I had someone say that we haven't been anywhere near 30 in over 4oo++ days! Feels like our summer is gone and we've not really had one!
But, weather or not, God is good all the time! May the Son shine upon you always!
Don't you just love a good rainbow?!
first thought when your blog opened WOW a rainbow on a church steeple, then i saw the clouds and as i scrolled, Ii was BWAK BWAK BWAKING with each scroll, WHAT was she doing OUT in a storm? then i go to the post and saw you were caught out in it and DID pull over. what super captures of the storm itself and how blessed you were to see that rainbow.
It was an awful fierce storm yesterday! Love how you captured it!
Hi Ginny...seems like forever since I have talked with you.

Hi There, We are on our way to Tullahoma to see G's Dad. My blog did not publish on the reader/dashboard today... Grrr...
I know it must have been scary being out in that storm. But you got some fabulous pictures of the storm, the clouds and the rainbow. Wow!
Send some of that rain our way. We need it.

Beautiful pictures of the storm with the contrasts of dark clouds and white clouds with rain coming down. The rainbow pictures are fabulous.
Those are amazing pictures, Ginny!! Glad you were safe in the storm. Beautiful verse to go with your post. :)
Glad you were kept safe as you snapped these powerful photos ... what a beautiful rainbow of promise.
I love the rainbow after a storm - did you hear about Indiana - Sugarland - storm? Those poor people!
Wow those are some impressive cloud shots... I've never seen a rainbow combined with lightning, that must have been awesome if also a bit scary.
You've captured the sheets of rain against the sky really well. Rainbows are always beautiful sights.
Hhhmmmm....that's what it's doing here right now....great shots!
THese are amazing pictures.First the storm, which looks fierce and then the beautiful rainbow.
Those are neat pictures Ginny. You must always have your camera with you. :)
These are beautiful Ginny!! Very dramatic skies..and to be out in this! Weather can be so telling about circumstances at times. It's been kind of moody here.. very humid for the last couple of weeks, like it wants to dump a ton of water. Well, it's cleansing too.
That sky sure was scary looking. I don't blame you for pulling over and waiting it out. We've done that before too
You got some very dramatic shots of the storm, but I really like your rainbow pictures.
Hi Ginny, Yes, the rainbow is God's reminder of his love and promise. I am glad you were safe during the storm. Outstanding pictures. Have a wonderful day tomorrow!
Wonderful photos as usual. I'm glad you were safe from harm before the storm hit. Have a great evening. Blessings...Mary
Great photos from the storm...I love storms....never am at a good place to get photos, though.
Also, always think of that verse when I see a rainbow.
