Tiger, Tiger
Tiger, tiger burning bright
In the forests of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears
Did He smile His work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Excerpt from William Blake's "Tiger"
One Tiger Lily was all I saw, as we drove past. One Tiger Lily in a front yard that was otherwise covered with ivy. The sun was directed at it.
There is a legend that says a hermit once saved the life of a wounded tiger. In the afterlife, the tiger became a Tiger Lily, and he spread his flowers everywhere searching for the hermit, who had died. He followed him even after death. We can follow one who died, but did not remain dead. He died to give us eternal life, and all we have to do is follow...
'My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them real and eternal life. they are protected from the Destroyer for good. No one can steal them from out of my hand."
John 10:27,28

Neat post, Ginny. We have that lily in our yard. We missed seeing it bloom this year though because of our trip. They are just so pretty--even when there's only one.
Loved the legend... NEAT...
Hugs,
Betsy
I have heard of tiger lilies but I don't think I have ever seen one like this ...really pretty!
Blessings, Joanne
Exotic header and flower series! I didn't expect the little lily to be sticking out like that (lol) one reason I enjoy macros cause of the deeper realm. What a cool story with your selection of poetry and verse~
I love Tiger Lilies!
You got some great shots from that one lone tiger lily Ginny, I love the one you used for your header.
It seems strange to see only one. If you take that one and multiply it by about fifty or more you have what's blooming in my front yard right now. Mine just started blooming last week. I'll be posting them soon.
Beautiful tiger flowers.. only that they don't roar! LOL...
This tiger lily is gorgeous, Ginny. You always take such great pictures... Hope you and Phil are staying cool..
God must have had a really good time creating all the beautiful flowers!!
Best,
Bonnie
We have a lot of tiger lilies in June that grow on the sides of our roads - they're so pretty!
I love tiger lilies! They are so pretty :)
My son is 16 years old. He has trouble clearing his ears when he dives. The problem with this dive is that the dive instructor he was with kept him going up to 30 ft. then down to 50 ft and back and forth. Too much of a pressure change. OUCH! That is why he ran into problems. He knew, but he didn't want to say anything. Have a great day

That's definitely an eye-catcher - one Tiger Lily in a field of ivy! A real showpiece! Great shots Ginny and interesting legend. Have a great week-end!
Good post Ginny - I didn't know that legend - I received Tiger Lilies after the birth of my son years ago!
They are very pretty.
the third up from the bottome looks like a ride at the fair. these are amazing, when I look at the lone flower where I can see the whole thing, it is not pretty, but the close up of it is gorgeous. all that beauty is hidden from the eye until the sun shines on it and magnifies the beauty. brilliant and beautiful
Girl, I love polkadots and so I have got to get me one of those plants. I wonder if they start from seed? Amazing to be driving along and spot one of these alone. You find the most amazing things on your outings.
Pretty tiger lily. Very interesting about the legend behind the flower.
One of my pleasures in life is seeing all the beautiful flowers God has caused to spring up from earth in the wildwood. Love the Tiger-Lily!
Amazing pictures. I love the tiger lily.Yes,we do have One who lives forever and so can we.
So pretty with its head bowed in the light ... like your poem and myth.
Hi Ginny, Outstanding verse and pretty flower! Have a fantastic evening tonight and a bright day tomorrow!
What a beautiful tiger lily. It really makes a pretty header for you. You did a great job showing so many details. Such a bright color.
We missed our tiger lilies this year, so I appreciate your pictures even more as a result. I had not heard the legend of the tiger lily before. Thanks for sharing it in this neat post.
Beautiful flower...and verse.
