“Those the Lord has rescued
will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”

A beautiful show indeed... and a wonderful send-off for the dearly departed. Perhaps that is why they are used so much in that way... much like little flower girls scatter rose pedals before the bride walks down the aisle... we line our loved ones path to heaven with glads. :)

XOXOXO
Such a beautiful sight on these wintry days with a wonderful verse to accompany it.
Oh Ginny, the lighting in these photos are perfection.
My grandfather was the groundskeeper for a college and grew the most beautiful glads. I've never associated them with funerals, and your amazing photos are a welcome walk down memory lane.
They're so pretty. I'm ready for warmer weather and flowers!
awesome header! these are so pretty, have not seen them growing since the govt took mama and daddy's house, she always had them in the yard.
I think these are lovely, and for me they're not associated with funerals at all but rather with birthdays... Mum used to grow them in our garden and they used to be in bloom for my birthday in August.
Beautiful! Makes me want to plant some of these in this very color! Have a blessed day.
Had never heard that about spiders breeding in them..have never noticed it either...I sure love them.
The flowers are so sweet.. love the color very much!
Oh Ginny, these are so pretty. Jake loved Glads, because they reminded him of his grandmother's garden.I think they are beautiful, but don't have much luck growing them.
I love Glads... My mother use to have them in our yard when I was young. SO pretty... And yes, winter is a great time to enjoy the flowers on photos....
Hugs,
Betsy
They are very pretty, but I agree that they remind me too much of funeral flowers! They are a wonderful to see in this dreary season, though.
I have seen a lot of flowers today - we must be having cabin fever or something - these glads are so beautiful - my grandmother's name was Glady's from these.
They are so pretty and come in such a variety of colors.
Our day is gray too so these certainly brighten it.
Oh my Ginny these are just marvelous. Anni is correct about the lighting. And, Gladiolas are one of my favorite flowers!
When in Maine every spring you could buy glads at the local markets and stores. I always bought the long stems with unopened buds. I loved to have them sitting on a table and watch as they bloomed.
I have not been able to find them for sale like that down here anywhere. I tried my hand at growing them but had no luck!
Oh this is a wonderful blessing in more ways than one!
Thank you for sharing this lovely post!
I hope you are having a grand week!
They are very pretty and a nice site on a cold day. I remember my mom planting them when I was a kid and they were nice but always ended up laying flat on the ground because they were too heavy for the stem
I love glads- funerals or not. I came over to say hi from Ann's blog
I think these are pretty gladiolus. I used to have glads when I lived in Ohio, but it's too shady for them to grow well here.
These are so beautiful Ginny. My grandmother's garden was always filled with gladiolas. When I see them it reminds me of her.
You must have posted late last night, I stopped by and this one wasn't up.
Beautiful just beautiful Ginny ....lovely scripture to go with it
My mother loved all flowers but glads were among her top favorites. You are right. They are a visual treat this time of year.
I am ready to see flowers growing outside!
So cheerful and happy. My evening just warmed up.
