Free Speech Wall

A writer is someone who can make a riddle out of an answer.  ~Karl Kraus

Come with me for a visit to the Free Speech Wall! It is a sunny winter day, but bitter cold and windy. The Charlottesville Downtown Mall erected this slate wall  recently. There are ledges for chalk, and anyone can write anything on this wall that they want. ANYTHING! I think it gives one a good idea of the people of this city. So Phil and I had to get our pictures taken while writing on the wall.  What would YOU write??? As we walk back to the car, our shadows say good-bye until the next adventure. Have you thought what you would write yet? If I get enough answers, I will likely do a post about them.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

What a wonderful idea. I have no idea what I would write but I like the idea that I could express myself freely.
It does look cold Ginny.

I would write - Truth is not determined by popular opinion.

Your weather looks like ours just now. Good idea with a chalk wall as it can also easily be washed clean every now and then. Don't know what I'd write... What comes into my head just now is 'hold on to your hopes, my friend'

"Way to go, Jen!" Instead of trying to think of something profound to write, I'd simply show my pride in my daughter who will be receiving her IPhD soon.

What a neat idea. I've no clue what I would write. I guess I'd have to live in the moment.

I would write "be respectful of one another". What did you and Phil write?

I love the idea of this wall. On a much more mundane level - I really love your jacket. The color is wonderful. Have a great day, Ginny. Blessings...Mary

Hi Ginny, I sure like that wall. Would be good to have in many spots but I'm sure some would get upset when others erased "their" comments. Beats spray-painted graffiti. I would likely write the Golden Rule. Have a good day and another good day tomorrow.

interesting! and pretty sad how we need a wall to practice free speech because everyone is so politically correct!

Great idea about the WALL! Our city has designated a certain section of the walk-way and they are providing chalk for people to write with. They forgot that not all of us are so limber as to stoop down to write! Don't know what I would write tho. You and Phil both looking good in the pictures.

They're Baaaack!

First, we did not get together with family today because of illness in the family. But we hope to get together very soon and I will post ph...
