Answer To The Mystery

These are just a few of the orchids we have seen at orchid shows. The last one won a blue ribbon. Which is your favorite? Here is the answer to yesterday's question. The cups are put with the orchids to show the buyer how much water to use when watering them. Previously, people who bought the orchids complained that they died, and it turned out they were giving them too much water. It needs to be very precise, and even a bit too much can kill them. Thanks for playing along with me. It was hard, but three or four of you guessed! I'm glad I inquired at the store!

“Planting and watering are menial servant jobs at minimum wages. What makes them worth doing is the God we are serving. You happen to be God’s field in which we are working.”
1 Corinthians 3

yes too much sun and water will kill the orchids. Hence I dare not plant.

since I'm terrible with plants these would not survive in my house. They sure are pretty though

I've actually had pretty good luck with orchids--the easier to grow types. I had one that lived for almost three years and bloomed over and over again. Love them!

Best,
Bonnie

I didn't know Orchids need very precise amount of water! Great idea to hang cups to let buyer know about it :-)
I like the second orchid from bottom the best. But they all look so beautiful!

I do like orchids and I have one in my house. :) I hope it comes back next spring. :) Great info!

I water my orchids under a running tap in the kitchen sink about once a week (or sometimes more sparsely), letting the water soak the plant and pass through the pot before I put it back. Don't have any in bloom at the moment though.

Maybe it's a good thing I haven't tried to grow orchids, I'm sure I would over water even with a cup. Those are all so pretty.

Ok, now I have no fear of going out and buying one. I have always heard they are so hard to maintain and look after or die, so I never bought one. No fear of over watering in my house and they would love it here.

Thank you for sharing the cups, great idea and the store went to the trouble of making it clear to the purchaser.

Sunday Sunset

I snapped these from the Target parking lot. The sun had just gone down, but the trees were hiding the very bottom part of the sunset. Life...
