“You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt.”
I keep hearing more and more about how healthy it is to eat dirt. And as you can see, we have a LOT of dirt around here! Scientists are saying that eating some dirt now and then really helps our immune systems. They are also saying that the rise in viral infections in children could be because their systems haven't been educated by dirt. Dirt makes it easier for our bodies to build up resistance. Doesn't surprise me, after all we were made from dirt!! But I just don't think I'm going out in the yard with a plate and dinner fork!
“But when God, our kind and loving
Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had
nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new
people, washed inside and out by
the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. God’s gift
has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s
more life to come—an eternity of life! You can count on this.”

That looks like the same cat that's hanging out in my yard....lol
I read years ago that all the antibacterial soaps were doing more harm than good because they didn't allow people to build up their immune system
I had never heard of dirt helping the immune system but when you think about it it really makes sense. I love that red dirt in some of the pics.
I know that if you have organic veggies in your garden and don't wash them completely, you get extra B-12 from the dirt on them.
My kids get very dirty, and they are pretty healthy too:) Love the colors in these Ginny!
i thought you went to visit Ann in PA when I saw the big cat digging... looks just like the one digging in her yard... and i did play and dig in the dirt when younger. i don't think kids should eat dirt, don't believe that, but i do think kids that play in the dirt and get dirty are healthier... my SIL never let her kids hands get dirty, they could not sit in the dirt or dig... dirt is for digging and today's dirt in your photos looks good for climbing.. is this close to you house, or was this a drive by shooting. LOL...
Me too! dont think i can even eat a sand or two, Ginny... :)
pass that bowl of dirt Ginny, I catch everything thats going lately!
As a kid....I ate lots of dirt. Not with a spoon or fork, but we played so hard each day...out in the dirt, so I know I surely got my feel of dirt tasting. Kids just don't play outside anymore and this is sad.
Hope your day is GREAT!!

I ate my share when I was growing up. Have not had any lately tho.
What, I did not know we could eat dirt and it is healthy! Building up resistance...ok, it does make sense. But! I'm with you for not going out in the yard with fork :-)
Hi Ginny If you eat all that dirt, you should be VERY healthy!!!
I can believe that about dirt...I believe it is healthy for kids to play and get dirty, too.
I'm sure a little dirt never hurt! We made lots of mud pies as kids. Never ate them but it sure was fun!
Amazing pix, and the dirt thing? Nah! I can see that the modern trend of sanitizing everything to the point that children are kept indoors most of the time and not allowed to "get dirty" could result in a less than robust immune system. But eating dirt comes with some risks that for me outweigh benefits. Great combo of visual and verbal.
Way to go, Ginny!
Dirt may be good for me,but I will NOT be putting any on my plate any time soon.
I have noticed dogs sometimes eat dirt. I've been told it is to obtain some mineral they are lacking.
It certainly makes for some very pretty and colourful photos, Ginny!
I suppose if it was a proven cure for cancer we would definitely give a try, right?! I just don't want the parasites and vermin droppings that would probably come with it!!
That is very pretty dirt too! But I think I will skip it. I have never heard that -but it doesn't surprise me. Kids used to play in the dirt - shoot I did too. Now a days it is so different. Not at all like us!

I have always heard that a little dirt is good for kids. As someone said above that's probably why so many kids get sick these days. I'm a firm believer in not using anti-bacterial soaps and such.
That is some of the most colorful dirt I have ever seen.
Hmmm... Thanks but no thanks. Now, that's a lot of dirt!!
