Whole Foods store has beautiful flowers, and usually quite a few orchids. I like to stop and look at them. But the last time I was there, they had a little plastic cup hanging onto each orchid. Huh? This was something new. My curiosity finally got the best of me, and I had to ask a store employee why the cups were hanging on the flowers. Now I know why the cups are there, so what do YOU think? Any guesses? The answer will be in my next post.

I love orchids but they are very hard to take care
I haven't got a clue as to what they are for. Maybe a watering cup so you don't give them too much water?
I have no idea, but Ann seems to be onto something?
Those are really beautiful.
I've purchased several of their orchids and there weren't any cups. I'm wondering if those cups have holes in the bottom so a few ice cubes can be added to drip on the plant as they melt??
Best,
Bonnie
For mixing up orchid food would be my best guess.
Ok I'll give it a try....
1. the cups are there to catch any fallen petals? or
To somehow kept them moist?
AKKKKKK! I have to know!!!! LOL!
Blessings, Joanne
Maybe they're for change or tips? :)
i have never seen the cups before and can't think of a reason... the orchids I have seen do not drip that i know of.
...a natural way of catching insects that will harm the orchid?
These orchids are beautiful! I love Whole Foods but the problem is the store is too far away. I wish they open store near I live :-) I have no idea why there are cups hanging. Maybe put ice or something as part of caring the flower?
Ginny, you find the most interesting things. I have no idea what the cups are for.
Hi Ginny, Fun quiz for today but it stumped me. I will tune in tomorrow to see the answer! Have a fabulously nice day!
The cups must be for feeding the gorgeous orchids some type of fertilizer. Great question..can't wait for the answer.
I truly have no idea. I do know that you are only supposed to water them with 3 ice cubes each day--so maybe the cup has something to do with how much water/food the plants get....
Hugs,
Betsy
In case the flowers have to pee....? lol
I often look at the orchids in the store and want to so much bring one home with me and then talk myself out of it because I've been left with the thought they are hard to keep.
Now, curiosity got the cat and that plastic cup with bring me back to find out why. See you later. Oh, btw your pictures are lovely
I just love orchids but I have never tried to grow them. I don't really know but I going to agree with Ann on the watering idea.
PS Ginny. All the prizes being given away on my blog are being given by the company that sponsors the book tours, not me. That same rafflecopter entry form appears on the blog of everyone who hosts a tour.
I love orchids, Ginny. Your header is lovely!
Oh, I also want to know the reason why! Ok, a wild guess.. to hold the orchid into place? :)
I look forward to your revealing the answer. I have no clue, but I do know you captured the beauty of these plants!
I think they are babies - seeds.
They sure are pretty and I love Whole Foods - it is $$$.
