Beauty is not in
the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~Kahlil Gibran
Here are some Calla Lilies from around here. Have y0u ever seen one? Their origin is Africa and they are not a real lily. They are very popular at weddings. Also funerals, where they are known as a symbol of death. They are said to restore the innocence of the departed soul. That must be why they have always been pretty creepy to me. A beautiful subject for Halloween. And actually, the meaning associated with the name of the flower is magnificent beauty.
"God made the heavens— Royal splendor
radiates from him, A powerful beauty
sets him apart."
Psalm 96

Sooooo beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing these pictures. I must admit I'm not much of a calla lily fan but... yours may have just changed my mind. :)

HI We have white/cream one here. Never seen the coloured ones but they are very beautiful.
Pretty awesome to look at...
they are very pretty. I never realized they came in all those colors.
Beautiful lilies with bright color...
They're beautiful Ginny. I did not know their significance tho...interesting facts.
Wow Calla Lilies are lovely. Quite beautiful.
Love the colors. I've seen them used frequently in wedding bouquets.
Best,
Bonnie
The colors are very nice, Ginny. Weddings and funerals? They are appropriate for everything!
I have only seen these at Jungle Gardens and Selby Gardens.. with the description they are good for Halloween.. beautiful photos...
I have always thought they were so beautiful!
I was going to say I'm not sure I've seen any other colour of callas than white, but had second thoughts before I posted the comment... Realizing that the pink/red ones we call flamingos here must be callas as well. I've had some of those as indoor pot plants.
Very colorful, Ginny..especially you put one after another in your post... very nice!
They look very pretty! I'm familiar with this flower in white but didn't know they come in so many different colors. Very lovely!
I don't know if I have ever since one - but they are GORGEOUS!
And I love this quote:
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~Kahlil Gibran
I so believe this and I think it is so true.

I do like how these flowers look. I have even tried growing them myself, but it wasn't worth the effort. Just had two small blooms.
I love calla lilies and have 2 in my yard.
Special flower, don't know this breed.
Greetings,
Filip
No I have not seen one...pretty
Wonderful colour, no can't say I have ever grown them. My cousin has grown them and has great luck with them. Very pretty
Loved the flowers and their colors. Lots of folks I know think don't like carnations cause they are used a lot for floral arrangements at funerals.
I however have seldom found a flower I didn't like.
Absolutely beautiful, Ginny! This is one of those few times that I actually know what the flower is called. :)
Calla Lilies are so beautiful, I love them. I have never associated them with death but it is interesting to learn new things.
Beautiful photos of lilies!
Greetings, RW & SK
So pretty Ginny, calla lilies are some of my very favorite flowers, I love all the colors and varieties.
Hi again Ginny. Just dropping by after I read your comment you left on the birding blog...glad you really enjoyed the photos I got of the hooded warbler!!
I've seen them but mostly from a florist. They are beautiful but I don't think they would grow here.
We have them as indoor plants here. They are so lovely! Great photo Ginny!
Very different! Pretty colors!
