Me & The Rock Lady

Earlier this week, my friend Karen came over. She had something very special. A bag of unopened geodes and a  rock saw. You heard me right. We went on the porch and she sawed open the geodes to see what gems were inside. What fun! Look how close to she got her fingers to the saw!! She sawed them in half and this is what we got! The smokiness in the pictures is rock dust from the sawing. The next day my neighbor asked what that lady was doing on our porch with a bunch of rocks. I sad that she was sawing them in half. Her reply was...why would anyone want to saw rocks in half? HA ha ha..

“He made the water flow out of the rock for them; He split the rock and the water gushed forth.”
Isaiah 48

to funny and i would have asked the same thing, but would have walked over to see what you were doing and asked why then. LOL.... they sure are pretty inside, had no idea that could happen... so why did she do it? what did you do with them after they were cut open?

This would be a lot of fun. Funny that your neighbor wondered what you were up to!

Much more interesting than just having a friend over for tea!! Geodes are so interesting. I have one in my garden that has a circumference of about 10 inches. I wonder if Karen would come and saw it in half? I'd love to see inside.

Best,
Bonnie

She's brave!!! I would love to even FIND a geode myself. What a treasure she shared with you and then you took time to share with us!! I truly enjoyed it...and a bit envious of all the nature's beauty.

Wow, she does have here fingers close. I'm assuming she's done a lot of this though. Those are pretty cool. Did they all look the same inside?

Those geodes are a natural surprise package. That was an interesting visit, but that saw near fingers was a bit scary, even though I wasn't there in person!

We have one of those with amethyst in the middle.

What an amazing find inside a simple stone. Must be a lucky dip kind of.

Cool rocks, but I would have sawed a finger for sure!

I love geodes, it's like getting a little present when you cut them open. I think I might have put them in a vise rather than hold them while cutting.

The one you have in your header is so pretty with all those white crystals.

How pretty! I think I've seen these in stores.
Happy week to you, Ginny!

That is really neat!

Now to me that sounds like a lot of fun, especially when the rocks reveal what is inside. I went to a rock museum when I was in Germany last year and some of the crystals they had were enormous and the insides were incredible. A lot of their rocks came from Arizona!

Hi Ginny, How fun! Glad you both had such a nice time opening those geodes. Beautiful little treasures - same for the Scripture. Have a great day tomorrow!

I do not know of many that can do that. What an interesting day you spent with the rock cutter.
