A Cold visitor

We opened the front door this morning to see that a bird had hopped to the door. It looked like he had waited awhile, then hopped away. His tracks came right to the door, then away. Matter of fact, the lines overlap, so it could have been two birds.

The fact occurs to me that he could have been seeking shelter. It is to be below zero tonight and tomorrow night. Whatever the reason, it is odd and a bit worrisome. Poor birds.

I’ve followed him closely, my feet in his footprints, not once swerving from his way. I’ve obeyed every word he’s spoken, and not just obeyed his advice—I’ve treasured it.

Ginny, I am sure they found shelter somewhere. Thanks so much for sharing these photos.

Lovely photos of the bird tracks Ginny, and that makes a great header shot also.

I've often wondered where birds go to escape the bitter cold!! I've heard that they have a "system" of marking where food is.

Best,
Bonnie

The tracks are overlapping very nicely. I sure hope the birds find shelter. There are icicles hanging from our bird feeder and I see no birds. I do wonder where they go when it's so cold. I hope they've got enough food wherever they are!

Might be mourning doves. We have several that like to huddle close to our door out of the wind.

In that first photo, if you notice, both tracks are leading to the door. I bet the poor little birds were getting a bit of warmth from your door.

I knocked and you didn't answer!
Some time when the bird feeder is
out of seed the birds will come up to our door. In the summer we had a red bird that came to the window and looked in.

Ginny, you have a caring heart and compassion for these little birds. I too hope they will find warm shelter and kept warm.

I have a lot of confidence in nature...they, I'm sure, know where to find shelter from the extreme cold. Hope so anyway.

Love the prints in the snow.

Oh, those are sweet little prints! We've been keeping our feeder full for our feathered friends. They've been emptying it every few days.

I find great peace in knowing that God cares for our feathered friends... Those little footprints were left for you to say.....That as God takes care of the birds...HE will take care of you.
Blessings..

I feel sorry for the birds this time of year. That's a pretty cool discovery there though.

your photo touched my heart...i feel so helpless when it comes to the birds and squirrels and stray kitty's and dogs...but I do know the Lord sees them. I have been throwing bread out on our patio and it is gratefully received,

Dear Ginny, It is so very cold here too. As I write this the wind is howling and it is once again snowing.
I had a little bird sitting on the front stoop. I wish I could give them all a home.
I know so many look forward to spring.

Seeking shelter and warmth was the first thing I thought of, too. It is amazing to me how birds, such delicate things, survive winter.

Sunday Sunset

I snapped these from the Target parking lot. The sun had just gone down, but the trees were hiding the very bottom part of the sunset. Life...
