The Persian Ceiling

A couple years ago, we got to see a museum exhibition by Dale Chihuly. It was awesome! And here is only one part of that day, "The Persian Ceiling". How amazing it was! So come, walk under the ceiling with me. I hope you will be as spellbound as I was.

“This inner sanctuary was thirty feet long, thirty feet wide, and thirty feet high. Its walls and ceiling were overlaid with pure gold, and Solomon made a cedar-wood altar for this room.”

First Fridays

Around these parts, in the warm weather we have something called First Fridays. The first Friday of every month, the local cities turn their downtowns into a festival! The stores are open late and have sales, there are bands and magicians and free food. It is lovely to stroll around! Here is  the first one I went to, in the city of Harrisonburg. Here is a violin player all dressed up.

He is giving me the evil eye as we drive past!

The church ladies had free lemonade.

And there were free horse and carriage rides.

This baby was definitely suspicious of the horse and wanted nothing to do with it.
So we come to the end of my very first First Friday! I hope to go to more this spring and summer!

“What’s this I see, approaching from the desert, raising clouds of dust, filling the air with sweet smells and pungent aromatics? Look! It’s Solomon’s carriage, carried and guarded by sixty soldiers, sixty of Israel’s finest, all of them armed to the teeth…”

Twilight In The Mountains

We were driving home last week at twilight. In front of us were the blue blue mountains. But later, when there was a break in the trees, I turned the camera to the side windows and snapped the sun shining on the mountain peaks as it set.

Going Nowhere

Look what I spotted! No, it does not play when you step on it. And it leads NOWHERE.

“The king built a massive throne of ivory accented with a veneer of gold. The throne had six steps leading up to it, it’s back shaped like an arch.”

Teeny Tiny Dwarves

Look what I found in the pet store! What do you think they are? NO, these are NOT mice!

These are Chinese Dwarf Hamsters! They are native to China and are only two inches long! They are very playful, and love to cling onto your finger with all four paws. They are so tiny that they will escape from a cage, and must be kept inside glass or plastic.

The name Hamster comes from a word that means "to stack". They stack food in their expanding cheek pouches. Can you see in the next two pictures how their cheeks are puffed out with food?

Oops, he has spotted himself in the glass. I'm afraid he will be looking at himself for quite some time. Bye bye little guy.

Dancing On Water

These water nymphs were dancing on the water in and around the water lilies. They each balanced on a beautiful ball, and were reflected in the water. No, they are not edited. They were as white as snow. I was totally enchanted.

“They send their children out to play and watch them frolic like spring lambs. They make music with fiddles and flutes, have good times singing and dancing.”

The Answer

Thanks for playing my game! Quite a few of you got it RIGHT! It was this picture, the last one. I don't know how the guessers knew, I would never have known.

Inside the Botanical Garden hallway, they hung up pictures that were painted by schoolchildren. And this is one of them, a scene from the garden. A perfect copy.

There were some fascinating creatures dancing on top of the water when I took these pictures. They were totally unreal. But you will have to wait for my next post to see them.

A Little Game For You

I am back home! They did a lot of tests and did not discharge me until the next day. Then I had a bad reaction to the C.T. contrast drink. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! I am on antibiotics and feeling better.

Winter is not gone yet! Wintry mix Friday morning. Enough already! So I just had to post something green and pretty!

I took these pictures at the Botanical Garden. But ONE of them is a picture I took of a painting. All the others are real. Can you guess which one is not real, and just a painting? On my next post I will show you and tell you about it!

“Then he changed wasteland into fresh pools of water, arid earth into springs of water, Brought in the hungry and settled them there; they moved in—what a great place to live!”

Going To The E.R.

Hi everyone! I have gotten another attack of diverticulitis, and it seems it has spread. I am heading to the E.R.  on doctor's orders. So if you don't hear from me for awhile, you will know I have been admitted. I am hoping that I will come back home though. See you when I see you!!

Spring Has SPRUNG!

Look what we came across yesterday! Sweet little crocus saying hello. And this is ALL I found. Everything else is totally dead. But it won't be long now...

“Wilderness and desert will sing joyously, the badlands will celebrate and flower— Like the crocus in spring, bursting into blossom, a symphony of song and color.”

Happy Birthday To ME!

My birthday was Monday, and Wednesday we got together with the family for a celebration. After eating out, we came back to our son's house. First, Anne Marie brought me the cake that she had picked out herself. It was dark chocolate mousse and fabulous.

I think Anne looks better with long hair, but her mom disagrees. Maybe because it makes her look older?

Here we are with our other two sweet granddaughters, Jazlyn and Jazarah. They had a ball on my lap looking through my camera. Sorry, still not allowed to show their faces on line.

Then came the presents!!

As we left, the sky was beautiful! The end of another birthday. Thanks so much for coming!
